TL;DR Review: Emilia Pérez is an incoherent superficial mess that, while well performed and technically interesting, is too confused and frankly too racist to merit any praise. Whatever interesting seeds of ideas that are present here were peed and shat on by this director.
The music sucks ass. It besmirches the good name of the movie musical.

This is my second Ari Aster movie, and I am already clocking some parallels and common themes. Whereas Midsommar begins with introducing you to the freaky death cult and then gradually turns the dial up to 11, this movie excellently baits you with an otherwise grounded story about familial trauma, dysfunction, and monstrous grief and then punches you in the face with the cult shit.
