I loved the concept and idea. I think the casting is fantastic. The production design is dope. The creatures are so impossibly cute.
But the dialogue is often a bit cringe, and the villains a bit too on the nose.
My biggest issue by far is the sound design. Is this whole movie ADR'd? Why does the dialogue sound so terrible and the sound design so unblended.
Also, the ending dragged for far too long.

Based on a very inspiring story of true events, and a great cast, this movie had so much potential. Unfortunately it looks extremely bland. The shots, the lighting, the sound design are quite uninspiring. There's such an overuse of haze and the CG airplanes threw me off so bad. The dialogue is also a little cringe, repetitive, and exposition-y at times. And the villains are so cartoonish. I really wanted to like this movie, and I believe the cast did their best with what they were given.

I'm so conflicted.
The story is amazing, the acting is on point, Zendaya is stunning, tennis is surprisingly fun to watch.
But oh my God I don't think I'll be able to listen to techno for another 10 years. Halfway through I was done, so done with this score.
Also, points taken away for the editing on crack. Yes, some shots were cool and creative but it also looked like they had too much time in the day and were just poppin off b-rolls and angles that served no purpose in driving the story.Translated from by
