Infused with a clear love for not only Alien and Aliens, but every other movie in the series as well. I’m a simple man: give me some xenomorphs, a pulse rifle, and an absolutely bonkers fourth act and I’m satisfied. I could have used a few less callbacks to specific dialogue, but they came off as minor distractions in an overall very good time.

Is this the better one? I’m not sure. Robbins’ and Wise’s film feels like the perfect stage adaptation: grand, sweeping wides of the choreography that the former also designed in both the play and the film. Spielberg’s 2021 re-adaptation feels more “cinematic”, with just as much blocking for the camera as any of the performers. Their presentations are uniquely appealing, and their heart break is equally powerful. Rare that the two can coexist so breathlessly without taking away from the other. Bernstein’s music is imprinted on my soul, and I need more Sondheim adaptations that actually sing his lyrics without over-cutting or miscasting.

Watched with Grandpa while he recovers. Loved how into this he was - apparently Italians love the Hallmark Channel.

I’m 27 years old. I’ve no money and no prospects, and I’m already a burden to my parents.

Everyone in this movie is on the very cusp of orgasm and it’s simultaneously uncomfortable and hilarious.

Got to meet Edward Ashton at this screening and he was very nice and proud of Mickey for making it to the big screen - read the book!
