Oh my god this was incredible. The interleaving of all of the pieces of the story at every level. The music that played into all of it. Absolutely loved how it was “narrated” through textual citations. Fully up my alley with my research into the Cold War as well as my love of jazz. Favorite of 2024, easily deserves the Oscar.

Lots of surprises here. Was surprised when I saw Mukdeeprom as the cinematographer in the (incredible) opening credits. Was surprised when they used 35mm for the whole thing as it feels like it could have benefited from the cleanliness of digital. Surprised when I saw Mr M Night acting and then realized it was his daughter.
Interesting ish movie but wouldn’t watch again. The acting across the board was kinda not great; almost campy in a way but not quite wouldn’t say.
Cinematography was really beautiful, what you get when you shoot on film and use proper contrast ratios.
Feel like the acting was quite incredible as well, all the vignettes of each era in their past lives felt incredibly real and lived. Enjoyed seeing the bittersweet trajectory of reality.
