I miss the days of when the BBC would take risks with it's drama output. And when it would star Timothy Spall in something that kicks the Tory Party, The Sun and The Daily Mail royally in the bollocks, I miss that kind of output even more.
Michael Palin is so nice he even manages to make Vyacheslav Molotov seem like a nice guy too. Also despite a fine performance from Simon Russell Beale, I think this movie is still underselling what a truly evil piece of shit Lavrenity Beriya was. Other than that this is a riotously funny political satire that says as much about the here and now as it does the past. Speaking of the here and now I hope Armando Ianucci gets to write and direct a sequel called The Death Of Putin real soon.
Not really a documentary about the making of the Imagine album, though we are treated to some great footage of it being recorded. This is more a look at where John Lennon was personally, politically and musically when it was being recorded and how he got there. Central to all this is his relationship with Yoko Ono. Journalists, musicians, staff and visitors to the Lennons offer up their memories and insights of the couple in this period. Best of the…
