**Announcing HD Hurt/Comfort Fest 2025!**
HD Hurt/Comfort is an 18+ anonymous prompt-based fest that welcomes creations from both the angsty and fluffy ends of the trope spectrum.
This fest was born from the idea that with darkness comes light, and that with hurt comes comfort. We believe that to every yin there is a yang, that every Jekyll has a Hyde. And through this fest we hope to achieve contentment with that balance. To that end, we will encourage and accept the following submissions:

I keep meaning to make an intro post and finally got around to it
To start off JKR supporters are blocked on sight because she sucks and I don't what people who actually like her around me.
I mostly post about Percy Weasley but occasionally i do also talk about other golden era characters.
Like Colin and Dennis Creevey, Lavender Brown, and Luna Lovegood. As well as whoever else happens to grab my attention for a little while.
I don't really consider this a Marauder blog
but i know from asks I've gotten and such that some people think I am
I really don't care much about Marauder era characters unless it's taking place in Golden Era or they're being shipped with Golden Era characters or it's like time travel related
I am a very heavy multi-shipper when it comes to characters I like.
Percy gets that treatment alot from me.
At the moment my main favs are Perclin (Percy/Colin Creevey) and Flintley (Percy/Marcus Flint)
I ship him with a stupid amount of people though so you will see plenty of others here
I'm normally only focused on a few at a time though.
I am pretty canon focused when it comes to characterization (or at least I try to be I don't always succeed at it though imo)
but i am also pretty big on the "hey what if this one thing was different" style of au
with the difference in most cases being soulmate aus
I love soulmate aus a lot and talk about them a lot because i enjoy thinking about how the world would change with them and how like politics and stuff would differ
Also looping back to shipping Percy alot it's an easy way to mash him together with someone especially when I'm trying to figure out how I think they would work as a ship

what is the BLOODY POINT of the Death Eaters in the HP universe as presented in the canon? They are depicted as an anti-state organization, comprised by 99% of purebloods of the highest order (or sacred 28 if you prefer) and they are the very same individuals who have governed their insular community for centuries. AND YET, they proceed to terrorise those who do not give a toss about them (Muggles) for??? Power??? Why on earth would Lucius Malfoy roam about acting like a terrorist when he can already do whatever he pleases, since he is practically untouchable? The Death Eaters are constantly likened to subversive organisations (even by me, damned be), when they are the most status quo shit within the entire universeeeeee!!! You know what would really make fucking sense? A group of radicalised Muggle-borns and/or a few half-bloods rebelling against this bloody oppressive system, going door to door to ABDUCT the firstborn sons of every single pureblood family. Yet the canon of Harry Potter does not portray this: unless you delve into supplementary information, there seems to be no rationale exp—apart from the existence of Dumbledore—that should prevent these lunatics from operating in board daylight.
The purpose behind them makes no sense because, exactly as you say, they are the status quo. They already are the ruling elite who act with relative impunity as even post-second war, the Malfoys are not punished in any way. So if the appeal of the Death Eaters is unrestricted power (the ability to subjugate and destroy without consequence), then the fact that they continue to thrive with their wealth untouched after the war means that they never needed to join up (just kill and then bribe the right person).
The Death Eaters, then, are not an insurgency but a contradiction. They seek to violently overthrow a system that already benefits them. Their movement should be redundant because the structures of power in wizarding Britain already uphold pure-blood supremacy without the need for open violence. If we’re talking about hegemony, then the Death Eaters' entire existence is proof that they fundamentally misunderstand how power actually works. True dominance is maintained not through brute force but through ideological control. And that is exactly what wizarding society already does.
Voldemort’s reign does not create a new order—it just removes the thin veneer of civility that previously disguised the same systems of oppression. Even at the height of his power, wizarding society is not fundamentally different from how it was before. While Muggle-borns are actively persecuted under his regime, they were already treated as second-class citizens. Even at the peak of their supposed integration into wizarding society, they are not in any meaningful positions of power. The Wizengamot, the Ministry, Hogwarts' leadership—all remain dominated by pure-bloods and half-bloods . This proves that Voldemort’s government is not a revolution but merely an exaggeration of what already existed. His rise to power is shockingly easy because the ideological groundwork was already there.
Another example is the treatment of house-elves. Dobby explicitly states that their conditions barely changed under Voldemort. Barely. A regime built on blood purity and the dehumanisation of others should, in theory, have made life significantly worse for house-elves, but it didn’t—because their treatment was already appalling. Voldemort’s rule does not bring about some radical reordering of society. The polite fictions that allow people to pretend their society is not built on exploitation are stripped away, but the practices remain largely the same.
So yeah, what are they fighting for??? Because it isn't power—they already have that. It isn’t change—nothing meaningful actually changes under Voldemort beyond aesthetics.
I may be missing something obvious - since, I'll admit, politics is not my strong suit - but isn't that the whole point of far-right movements everywhere ever?
KKK was made up of white people who persecuted Black people, because the latter wouldn't be their slaves anymore. Far from having achieved true equality - just because these people who they'd always considered beneath them, now had the right to exist beside them.
Hitler was the leader of a political movement that at its core was racist, hateful, that supported eugenics and hounded and killed millions of people while he was in power.
The new USA President is a rich, white man, who has gotten away with everything short of murder so far. He rises to power and what does he do? He starts taking away all the hard-earned rights of the disabled, the queer, the lower income classes - who might be constitutionally equal to him, but far, far below him in terms of social capital.
I think that's exactly what the Death Eaters are: a far-right movement that thinks of Muggleborns as second class citizens - definitely not equal to those of pure blood - and has grown as the reaction to the fact that, as the years pass and wizarding society progresses, Muggleborns are less considered or treated as such.
I think the narrative could have benefited from more historical context within the wizarding world (RIP History of Magic class).
A deeper understanding of the social and political shifts leading up to Voldemort’s rise would have added richness to the story. The far-right movement of the Death Eaters makes sense in a political climate where they feel their power is threatened even if that threat is imaginary. After all, far-right extremism often misinterprets marginalized groups gaining rights as a personal loss of status, when in reality, equity doesn’t mean oppression; it simply means more people have access to the same quality of life they already enjoy.
So what changed in the wizarding world to stoke these fears?
Was the first Muggle-born Minister of Magic recently elected, much like how MAGA and Trumpism arose in response to Obama’s presidency?
Did a Dragon Pox epidemic devastate the population, creating instability?
Has Muggle technology begun interfering with magic since the Industrial Revolution, challenging wizarding ways of life?
Are wizarding communities disappearing due to the expansion of suburban sprawl?
Were progressive laws recently enacted protecting house-elves, werewolves, Squibs, or other marginalized groups?
Was there once a segregated school for Muggle-borns that only integrated into Hogwarts in the 20th century?
If those who uphold pureblood ideology feel like their traditional privileges are being eroded. If they can claim they’re being locked out of a system while others gain "unfair" benefits then it’s easy to see how members of the oppressor class might be radicalized into a terrorist organization like the Death Eaters.
But for this to be fully realized, the wizarding world needs a catalyst of social and economic change, something that forces these tensions to the surface and makes the rise of Voldemort feel like an inevitable consequence rather than just another villain's power grab.
