Importing this data

edit

There seems no longer to be a way to resolve these identifiers. All the data is available through Jisc, coreferenced with the new (but closed) EPNS site, if someone ever wants to try rescuing it. AndrewNJ (talk) 16:26, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Changing target for this property

edit

Since the old placenames.org.uk site seems to be gone for good, and its functionality is replicated (based on the same underlying data) by the EPNS main site at the University of Nottingham, I'm going to be bold and repurpose the property to point there.

Example of the new site:

Salisbury (Q160642) -> 53288661b47fc40d38000001.

English Placenames MADS ID (P9200) can be added as a qualifer. (Unfortunately its IDs now no longer resolve either, but they can still be obtained with the EPNS ids from [1].

The old-form IDs, that used to work with http://placenames.org.uk/ can also be found in the same files. Even though they no longer work, it may be worth providing them as a qualifier too. For the moment I propose to use inventory number (P217) for this.

As neither P3627 nor P9200 have more than about a dozen uses at the moment, with luck making this change should not cause too much inconvenience. Jheald (talk) 19:59, 8 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
