But the reason that those with less ‘‘class privilege’’ are excluded or marginalized is not because society doesn’t value their class cultures enough. It is because they lack pow- er. Changing the social value attached to less ‘‘privileged’’ class cultures is not simply a matter of those currently endowed with more ‘‘class privilege’’ learning to appreciate the positive attributes of less ‘‘privileged’’ class cultures. It involves building working- class power.
