For me it is about getting to know my students, getting them comfortable with me, introducing rules, and giving them a quick drawing activity. I do it the same every year and it works great for me. Here’s my first day art lesson with TK (you can do it with any lower grade)! I have probably been doing this lesson for 2 decades. It started as my go to lesson for kinder, but now I do another version of this with them! And yessssss, we bust out the paint on Day 1! It’s all so worth it, I promise! On Day 1, students learn about the different kinds of lines after reading the book “Lines that Wiggle” and they get to paint the black lines! On Day 2, students learn about primary colors and fill the rest of their painting with these colors in the negative space! The results are truly unique and beautiful!
