A Night of Firsts read it on tumblr & ao3

Eddie’s four year old daughter betrays him by being obsessed with child-actor-turned-pop star Steve Harrington. It should be Rob Halford or Ozzy but nooooooo. Still, Eddie is a supportive dad. He’ll suffer for her.
They go out to see Steve play live. Four year olds are impressed, Eddie’s impressed, and Steve is a very bold
man.

With this sort of Wayne-centric story really popping off with people (though this rec is probably a little too late), I’d be foolish to say it’s not the first time I’ve played with emotions and Wayne Munson.

If you liked that piece, I could not recommend Fish Tales: Tradition and Family Histories more
It’s got a bit of clarkson, a bit of steddie, but it’s mostly a journey through Wayne’s life, circling around an annual fishing trip.

The greatest enemy in Eddie’s life was time. Not jocks, not conformity or the suburban moms with their panties in a bunch about satan, not even the horrors from other dimensions they didn’t really speak about. None of those things did as much damage to Eddie’s day-to-day life as clocks and calendars did.

He never knew what day it was. Even when those were important things like trash day or doctor’s appointments. Never mind the smaller increments. Days were hard enough to keep track of, but “see you in an hour” was a made up concept.

It led to a lot of assumptions that Eddie was passionate or overzealous. Showing up to play Dungeons and Dragons three hours early and then spending that time working on the campaign looked dedicated and not a safety measure to not forget when six o’clock was.

Workarounds like that were great and got Eddie far in life. Especially now that he was fully free of the militant school system and its bell system trying to tell Eddie where to be and when. Libraries, though, were his Achilles heel. Time didn’t exist the same way in a library as it did elsewhere.

So it wasn’t entirely Eddie’s fault that he went in to get some information real quick for a campaign, and it turned into two hours. He really, really wasn’t to blame that Steve came along. Not that he was complaining about the newly acquired shadow, but when Eddie came by himself, no one cared about how long they were there. No one was left bored and waiting.

i was sitting here thinking about how insufferable I’m about to be on Monday because I’ve basically not talked to anyone for a week (there’s been a couple of conversations, don’t get me wrong) but none of my coworkers are going to want that.

then i remembered i work with kids. they’ll be way worse than I could ever be and by the end of tuesday I’ll be crying for summer vacation and peace and quiet lol

Just asked my husband to create an app or website to replace NaNoWriMo (jokingly), expecting him to lol and leave it at that. Instead he says, ‘what shall we call it? SteddieWriMo?’ And I’m obsessed. So this November I’m doing SteddieWriMo, yeah boi!

Okay this has grown legs. Husband is a Webdev and is setting up a site for me, forum and tracker and badges, because he knows I miss the badges 🤣. Would anyone other than me be interested in this? I know we can do discord servers but honestly I’m not a fan, I miss ye olde forums. I’ll still do this by myself, I’m so excited for badges though!

Up and coming metal artist Eddie Munson covers his favorite song by queer pop icon Steve Harrington, who he's lowkey obsessed with, even if he loses a bit of cred for liking a few basic bitch songs.

Steve Harrington-- VERY aware of Corroded Coffin's extremely sexy frontman, all thanks to his little brother Dustin dragging him to a shitty bar in their hometown to listen to screaming songs about dragons and wizards-- who in turn covers one of Eddie's songs and posts it to his socials.

Cue Eddie and Dustin having simultaneous aneurysms when Steve slides into Eddie's DMs and gets a response in milliseconds.
