cyno x reader

established relationship, angst, no comfort

cyno was your ideal fit for a lover. his gentle touches, the way he’d remember every important date in relation to you and your relationship, he was perfect.

perhaps that’s why this cut so deep.

it had been a muddled past few weeks as cyno’s job as the general mahamatra kept him busy and away from you. but with your birthday coming up you looked forward to spending time together. his sweet smile, corny jokes, and warm touches were all you thought about.

so, here he was, seated in front of you sharing a meal of “duel soul,” of his own creation. you couldn’t help but smile at the sight of cyno’s chews as he shoveled grains of rice into his mouth. you leaned forward across the table, wiping a grain of rice off of the corner of his mouth as he smiled at your gesture.

“ah, i almost forgot to tell you (y/n), a tournament of TCG will be on friday so i’ll be home late.”

your smile fell as you realized what day that was. it was your birthday. you frowned as you picked up your fork, smushing the small pyramid of rice down.

“do you have to go? you do realize friday is my—“

“can’t that wait (y/n)? i understand i haven’t been home much these days but this is very important to me. whatever you wanted to do on friday can wait another day, can’t it?”

you frowned, nodding as you bit on your lip. he didn’t mean your birthday, right? did he even remember? you give him a small smile as you pick up your plate, your appetite gone.

“you’re right, cyno. i hope your matches go well.”

you paused, noticing how he avoided your gaze as he continued to finish his meal. “i think i’ll just go to bed early.” you say quietly as you dump your plate into the trash can, briskly walking to your shared bedroom.

a part of you wanted him to go after you, ask you what was wrong, or even comfort you. but he didn’t. you curled up into a ball under your blanket and wept. you were so very tired of feeling like second to all of cyno’s responsibilities. you didn’t want to be a burden, but you still wanted his time. you didn’t want him leaving you alone on your special day of the year. but you knew he wouldn’t listen to reason, so you closed your eyes and fell asleep with a pounding headache and sore eyes.

the next few days quickly came and went, with cyno’s presence lingering here and there as you’d see him around the city while you did your commissions to help around. you missed him dearly, the most time you’d spend together was sleeping side by side in the same bed, sharing warmth and trying to engrave his scent into your memory as you held him.

but it was short lived once he’d leave early in the morning, no kisses or goodbyes shared as he’d leave. you understood how serious his duties were, but sometimes you still wished he’d stay with you longer, holding you the way he used to at the beginning of your relationship.

you held onto those thoughts until friday arrived. another morning of cyno’s early departure, and the day of your birthday arrived. you softly smiled to yourself as you laced up your boots, already having a person in mind to visit for your special day.

you made your way out of the city and through the lush greens of the forest until you arrived to gandharva ville, spotting the familiar tall ears of a certain individual. you ran up behind him, poking his ear as he yelped in surprise.

“(y/n)! archons.. don’t touch my ears!”

he huffed out as he crossed his arms before looking at you with a confused expression.

“i suppose i’ll let it slide this once since it is your birthday.. happy birthday, my dear friend. what are you doing here? i would’ve assumed you’d be spending this day with cyno.”

you shake your head as you look to the side sadly, your hands playing with the hem of your shirt as you sigh. “cyno said there’s some tournament thing for TCG today so we couldn’t do anything for today. are you not going? i thought you always went.” your brows furrowed as you took in tighnari’s equally confused expression.

“tournament? i don’t recall one being today, and cyno certainly didn’t bring it up to me either.. perhaps he’s planning something for you?”

you nod as you hold your strap of the bag you’re holding. “i hope that’s what it is.” you chuckle as you give tighnari a hug before making your way back to the city. you go to katheryne and do your commissions, helping give out medicine and fetching water for a small garden. it wasn’t hard work but it helped out the community. you exhale as you wipe sweat from your forehead before a young girl approaches you, flyers in her hand.

“good day miss, there will be a performance in Zubayr Theater tonight. we hope you can make it.”

she hands you a flyer before scurrying off. you glance at the flyer and see a photo of nilou along with the other dancers of the theatre. you were acquaintanced with nilou through tighnari and cyno, but you didn’t know her well personally. she was an excellent dancer, no doubt about that.

you shrug it off as you stuff the flyer into your bag before heading to the market stalls, looking for something sweet to have to celebrate your lonesome birthday with.

as you examine the padisarah puddingsyou hear a familiar voice.

“hey! you’re going to use up all my mora, you know i need that to buy more rare cards with.”

you smile to yourself as you realize it’s cyno. you turn around, ready to scold him for being so wasteful on his cards but your eyes widen at what you see in front of you. nilou’s was hugging his arm as he stood very close to her. his smile looking sickingly loving, the same way he used to smile at you.

your breath caught in your throat as you watched him lean into her, his headpiece covering most of the scene but you knew what was happening. you felt sick. how could he betray you like this? and on your birthday? did he truly feel no remorse for the 4 year relationship with you?

you choked back a sob as you left the puddings, running back to the ville where you knew tighnari would be.

tighnari’s hand raises as he gives you a slight wave before you throw yourself into his arms, clutching him tightly as you sob.

“h-he’s cheating on me, with nilou. i saw them in the market together, all gooey and close together as if they were lovers! oh tighnari, i don’t know what to do.” you cry out as you sob into his chest.

tighnari’s eyes widen at your words. you had to be mistaken, right? cyno would never do those things, not to you.

“are you sure of what you saw (y/n)? that’s unforgivable, of course, but that doesn’t sound—“

“i saw them kiss tighnari. i saw the way she hugged his arm. it was real.”

tighnari nods as he strokes your back gently, mumbling that he’ll help you with whatever you decide. you sniffle as you tell him that you want to leave him, move out that very day as he simply nods, saying he’ll help you and give you one of the unoccupied places in the ville.

tighnari helps you take all of your belongings to a new place to call home, making sure to take every trace of you and your, now past, relationship with you. you place a photograph of you and cyno together at the annual lantern rite festival face down as you take one last look at the place you had called home for the past 3 years. you leave with tighnari, leaving your keys on the side table, never looking back as you two return to the ville.

hours later, cyno makes it home after watching nilou’s performance. it had been another stunning, flawless performance from her once again. he couldn’t help but smile at the memory of her wink as she danced across the stage with the other dancers.

as he opens the door he notices the lights are off, which isn’t usual but perhaps you had just gone to bed early again.

“i’m home (y/n).”

he calls out into the empty home, looking in the kitchen if you had left him dinner, but was greeted with an empty stove and the gentle hum of the refrigerator. he shakes his head as he makes his way to the bedroom, softly turning the knob as he looks at the bed, expecting to see your sleeping form. but you weren’t there.

his blood runs cold as he looks around, tossing pillows and other items onto the floor. just where had you gone?

he takes in the scene as he realizes some of your things are missing. he runs to your shared closet, throwing the doors open as he sees your side completely bare.

something happened to you. you wouldn’t just up and leave him without another word.

panic sets in as cyno runs around the house, calling your name and opening every door, hoping he would see you behind one of them. once he realized you weren’t there he took off to the ville where tighnari resided. he pounded on the door, only to be greeted with a yawning tighnari with an annoyed expression across his face.

“do you realize what time it is”

“(y/n)’s missing! i need your help to find her—“

“you don’t know, do you?”

cyno looks into tighnari’s eyes, begging for an answer silently.

“(y/n) knows about you and nilou, so she left.”

cyno shakes his head, looking to tighnari with fear.

“no that wasn’t—“

“it’s too late cyno, she’s gone. you can’t blame anyone but yourself for this.”

tighnari scoffs as he shuts the door at cyno’s disheveled expression.

cyno’s heart clenched as he stood there, tears slipping from his cheeks. he knew deep down nilou wouldn’t be worth it, but it was all in exchange for you?

“i choose you, (y/n). please, return to me.”

Mikage Reo x Reader ?

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

The weight of a name.

Mikage Reo never imagined heartbreak could taste so bitter.

“I don’t want to do this,” he had said, voice low and trembling, as he stood before you under the grey light of dusk.

But he did it anyway.

“My mother… she doesn’t approve. She said you’re not from the kind of family I should be with. She said you’re just… a commoner.”

You blinked. Once. Twice. And then smiled.

A calm, composed smile.

“I see,” you said softly. “Then there’s nothing more to say, is there?”

He had expected tears. Maybe even a slap. But instead, you simply turned and walked away, leaving Reo standing in the shadow of his own regret.

~

Two weeks later.

The Mikage family was buzzing with excitement. An exclusive invitation had arrived—one from the elusive and legendary figure in global finance known only as the Godfather of Stock Trading. An induction ceremony, private and prestigious, for his official successor.

Mrs. Mikage was ecstatic.

“This is the perfect opportunity to expand our network,” she declared, dressed in the finest Mikage Corporation-designed kimono. “We’ll meet real elites—not the low-class girls Reo’s been wasting time on.”

Reo said nothing. His heart was still stuck on you.

The ballroom was a vision of opulence—golden chandeliers, orchestral music, and a guest list worth more than small nations. Reo’s father made polite conversation with CEOs. Mrs. Mikage paraded around with a glass of champagne.

And then, silence fell.

The host appeared on stage, a silver-haired man with sharp eyes and a sharper presence. The Godfather himself.

“Thank you all for coming,” he began, voice steady. “Tonight, I present to you the future of my financial legacy. My granddaughter, my pride, my heiress—l/n y/n.”

Reo’s head snapped up.

From behind velvet curtains, you stepped onto the stage. Poised. Graceful. Clad in a midnight-black designer gown with diamond accents, elegance wrapped in a knowing smile.

Mrs. Mikage choked on her drink.

Reo couldn’t move. He couldn’t breathe. You looked radiant. Powerful. Untouchable.

And you looked right at him.

Not with anger. Not with bitterness.

But with complete indifference.

The whispers swirled through the crowd:

“She’s his granddaughter?!” “I thought she was just a student!” “The Mikage family rejected her?! They must be regretting it now.”

The Godfather descended from the stage, flanked by executives and bodyguards. He approached the Mikage family with a pleasant, terrifying smile.

“Mrs. Mikage,” he said smoothly. “I believe we’ve met—though not formally. I understand you had concerns about my granddaughter’s… status?”

Mrs. Mikage turned ghost-white.

Reo’s hands clenched at his sides.

And you? You merely offered him the faintest smile before linking arms with your grandfather and walking away.

The tables had turned.

But this time, Reo wasn’t going to just stand still.

Later that night, as the crowd thinned and champagne flutes were half-empty, he found you on the balcony, the city lights flickering below.

“Y/N,” he murmured, voice raw. “I’m sorry. I never should’ve let you go.”

You turned slowly, face unreadable.

“You didn’t let me go, Reo,” you said. “You gave me away.”

“Then let me earn you back,” he pleaded, stepping closer. “Not as Mikage Reo, the heir. Just me. The boy who fell in love with you.”

There was a pause. A long one.

And then, finally, you smiled. This one a little softer.

“We’ll see,” you whispered.

Hope bloomed in his chest.

Because maybe, just maybe, he still had a chance.

Rin Itoshi

As always, his expression was unreadable. No excitement, no surprise just his eyes locked on the loaf as if it were something to analyze, to measure. Without a word, he stepped forward, took the knife, and cut a slice. Every movement was calm and precise, like the way he moved on the field

He picked up the piece, glanced at you briefly, then took a bite. You held your breath. Rin chewed, expressionless. As if everything was just as it should be “You overbaked it” he finally said, almost to himself “The crust is too thick. The inside’s a little uneven”

“Did you use honey?” he asked suddenly. You nodded. “Instead of sugar. I thought it would make it softer”

He didn’t respond right away. Just finished the rest of the slice and set the empty plate down on the counter. His eyes met yours for a brief moment before darting away again

“Not bad” he said “The flavor’s solid. Better than I expected”

His voice had dropped just slightly at the end. Then he turned his back, took a few steps toward the kitchen door only to stop right at the threshold

“Make it again tomorrow morning. I want to see if you’re consistent” Same cool tone, but beneath it… the faintest trace of anticipation. And that, from Rin Itoshi, was the closest thing to high praise

You smiled, turning back to look at the remaining loaf. But then you heard soft footsteps behind you. Before you could react, Rin had already closed the distance

He slipped his arms gently around your waist from behind, pulling you into his chest. His head rested beside your shoulder in quiet stillness. He didn’t say a word

He just stayed there for a moment, then placed a soft kiss into your hair warm, unexpected, and light as air. Then, barely above a whisper he spoke

“I’m glad you made it”

Sae Itoshi

He looked relaxed, as always. Hands in his pockets, a faint smirk playing on his lips as his eyes drifted to the freshly baked bread in front of you

“You really went all out, huh?” he said, pushing off the doorway and sauntering over “It’s my first time trying,” you replied, a little defensive. “So don’t be mean”

Sae just chuckled under his breath. He picked up the knife and cut a slice without asking. Always confident. He brought the piece up, inspected it like it was a high-end dish on some fancy tasting menu, then bit into it.

You waited. Sae chewed slowly and you could already feel he was dragging it out on purpose “It’s not bad” he finally said lips curving into a lazy smile “Crust’s a bit thick. You didn’t knead it long enough”

“I did! My arms still hurt.”

He finished the slice and set the rest of it aside. Then, as he passed by you, he casually reached up and wiped a bit of flour off your cheek with his thumb. The touch was brief, but deliberate

As he reached the doorway, he paused and glanced over his shoulder, the corners of his mouth still slightly upturned “If you’re serious about this,” he said, voice smooth and just a bit teasing “I could open you a bakery. Just say the word”

Then he walked off without waiting for a reply leaving you there with your heart doing funny things and your face burning hotter than the oven had minutes ago

image

Reo Mikage

Leaning against the counter with his phone in hand, Reo Mikage had been watching you the whole time, amused and genuinely curious “So? This is it?” he asked, pushing off the counter and walking over to the loaf

You nodded, a little nervous “Be nice. It’s my first time” He grinned, already grabbing the knife “I’m always nice”

With exaggerated focus, he cut a slice, inspected it like he was judging a baking competition, then dramatically took a bite. He chewed slowly, eyes narrowed in fake seriousness

You crossed your arms. “You’re dragging this out on purpose.”

“Maybe” he mumbled with a full mouth. Then he swallowed and gave a small, satisfied nod “Okay, real talk? It’s good. Really good” You blinked “Wait, seriously?”

“I wouldn’t lie to someone holding a knife” he teased, holding up his hands “Crust is a bit chaotic, but the inside? Soft. Flavor’s nice. Honey instead of sugar?”

You nodded again, surprised he noticed. Reo smirked “Of course I can tell. I’ve got a refined palate”

You rolled your eyes, but the tension in your chest had already eased. He took another bite, clearly enjoying himself, then leaned back against the counter

“You know” he said, glancing at the loaf again “if you’re thinking long-term… I could fund a bakery for you”

In response to this: https://www.tumblr.com/razorblade180/779761387428790273/fatuiraises-fist-bennettteam-work-is-dream

What's your opinion on those 'Bennett's birth place is Natlan' headcanons?

razorblade180 answered:

It’s viable. I wouldn’t be surprised at all given what we know about his story. The only reason why I think they would never confirm it would be because they’d have to come up with an explanation on why Bennett doesn’t have any kind of Night Soul glow.

The only thing I can think of is he is natlanese but wasn’t even born in Natlan at all so the Lord of the Night and land itself literally have no clue he exists. It’d be interesting to know what his parents were doing.

you first met business tycoon!reo in your intro to business class, and sparks immediately flew

a month and a half later, you and business tycoon!reo were dating. four months after that, you were single again

it wasn’t a bad break-up, but it still hurt. you got busy with work, and business tycoon!reo got busy with his family’s business

you’d never forget about business tycoon!reo, but he certainly wasn’t present in your mind when you applied for an internship at mikage corp

you couldn’t place why the owner’s name, reo mikage, sounded so familiar until your tour of the office, where you spotted a framed photo of none other than business tycoon!reo

the building suddenly felt too small, and you thought you blew it by asking to wrap the tour up early. apparently not, because a week later, you’re seated at your desk.. directly across the hall from business tycoon!reo

your plan was to avoid business tycoon!reo at all costs. it’d been years since you dated, and if he didn’t remember you, you’d be crushed

on the second day of your internship, you were greeted with a vase of purple lilies with a note that read “to new beginnings.” you searched for business tycoon!reo, but never spotted into him until your fifth day

“reo,” you greeted after chasing him across the parking lot. business tycoon!reo spun on his heel when he heard your voice, violet eyes wide before a slow smile worked its way across his lips. “i hoped it was you, y/n.”

business tycoon!reo agrees to meet with you over dinner to catch up, and you’re surprised by how naturally the conversation flows between you. it was never this easy in college, and you can’t help but feel like there’s an ice pick with his name chipping away at your frigid heart

“i want to take you out again,” business tycoon!reo announced as he walks you back to your car, and your light smile surprises you. “i want that, too. but… you’re my boss now.“

business tycoon!reo’s fingertips graze yours. “not entirely. it’s only an internship, and technically you work under chigiri.” “who works under you.” “…”

you laugh at business tycoon!reo’s flustered expression before placing a quick parting kiss to his flushed cheek. “second time’s a charm, right? i’ll see you tomorrow.”

What goes around part 2

Rin had never been more wrong in his life.

Five weeks. That was all it took for the perfect illusion to crack and shatter into something ugly. The girl he had admired since childhood, the one he had thrown everything away for, was nothing like he had imagined.

She was selfish. Immature. More in love with the idea of him than the actual person. And she was suffocating.

“Rinnie, why are you always so serious? Let’s just skip your training today. You can miss one day for me, right?” she had pouted, batting her lashes at him.

He had refused, of course. Soccer was his life. His everything. But the disappointment in her eyes wasn’t the soft, understanding kind. It was irritation, like she was owed something from him.

And that was only the beginning.

She didn’t get him. Didn’t understand why he pushed himself so hard, why soccer consumed every fiber of his being. And she had no interest in trying. She just wanted the image of him—the cool, talented soccer player who would revolve around her whims.

Rin felt sick.

He had traded you for this?

The weight of his mistake bore down on him, heavier with each passing day. Because you had understood him. You had never asked him to be anything but himself. Never demanded his time, never guilted him for his dedication to his sport. And even then, you had always been there—supporting him from the sidelines, encouraging him in quiet ways that he only now realized he had taken for granted.

But he had been so blind. And now, you were gone.

The 1-on-1 against Sae had left him physically drained, but what followed shattered him even further.

“By the way, Y/N’s doing well,” Sae had said casually as he adjusted his wristbands, not even sparing Rin a glance.

Rin stiffened at your name, something cold curling in his stomach. He had forced himself to keep his expression blank, even as his heartbeat quickened.

“She’s in Spain, you know. Studying Sports Medicine. Top of her class.”

Rin swallowed hard.

“She said she wants to work for Re Al as a sports therapist. Quite ambitious, don’t you think? But I suppose that’s what happens when you’re actually focused on the future.”

Sae’s words were a blade to the gut. You were still in his world, still working hard, still striving for something bigger. And now, your path was intertwining with his brother’s instead of his.

Sae glanced at him then, a slow smirk curling on his lips as he took in Rin’s clenched fists, the slight tension in his jaw. “You regret it, don’t you?”

Rin didn’t answer. Couldn’t.

Because there was no point in denying it anymore.

He had let you go.

And now, you were thriving—without him.

What Goes Around

Rin didn’t regret his decision.

That’s what he told himself, at least.

When he broke things off with you, it had been clean—no dramatics, no yelling. You had only looked at him for a long moment, as if memorizing his face, before nodding. “I see,” you had said, voice steady. “I wish you the best, then.”

No begging. No anger.

For some reason, that had made Rin feel even worse.

But he had made his choice. His first love, the girl he had admired since childhood, was back in his life, and he had to see things through. It was only fair to be honest with you, rather than string you along.

So why did it still bother him?

At first, he didn’t hear much about you. You weren’t the type to mope publicly or seek attention. If anything, you had thrown yourself into your studies even more than before. When the teachers praised you, when your grades climbed even higher, Rin had ignored the strange feeling in his chest.

Then you disappeared.

Not literally, of course, but you were gone from Japan before he even realized it. An overseas scholarship to Spain—granted to you for your academic excellence. You hadn’t even told him.

Not that you needed to.

He should be happy for you. Shouldn’t he?

But then, the whispers started.

“Did you hear? Itoshi Sae has been seen with y/n a lot in Spain.”

“They say he’s been spoiling her, taking her to expensive restaurants and matches.”

“They look good together, don’t they? A power couple.”

Rin stiffened.

Sae? His brother?

Wooing you?

That couldn’t be right.

But the more he listened, the clearer the truth became. He saw pictures on social media—of you at one of Sae’s matches, of you in Madrid, of Sae leaning in too closely with that infuriating smirk of his.

And worst of all? You looked happy.

Rin clenched his fists, jaw tight. He had made his choice.

So why did it feel like he was the one left behind?

sae's entire conflict with rin stems from the fact that he's a soccer freak, in a way.

like, his entire world is an axis that turns around soccer, and this makes it harder for him to relate to others or understand their motivations outside of the context of how the soccer world works.

this is what makes it hard for him to innately understand what motivates rin, which is further complicated by the fact that rin also aspires to be one of the best competitive players in the world.

but this does not solely come from a love of soccer, for him.

rin's passion for soccer comes from a position of loving to play soccer and destroying his opponents through it. without being able to play, he would likely move on to something that allowed him to compete with worthy opponents and destroy them at their best.

sae doesn't simply love playing soccer. he loves soccer. he is a soccer maniac, an actual freak, his whole goddamn life revolves around his obsession with soccer.

he even mentions this, in his bits of trivia. that maybe if he hadn't discovered soccer he would have been living a "normal" life.

he knows that his life isn't normal. he knows that the way he thinks isn't normal. but it doesn't mean he understands what it's like to be normal.

no matter where he is or what he's doing, his love of soccer will bleed through. to him, soccer is the ultimate. even if he wasn't playing soccer, soccer would continue to be his whole world.

the very way his mind works has been built around soccer and does not register any normal way of living outside of it. he picked up a soccer ball as an actual infant and never again lived without it.

it's why on some level, he doesn't understand rin.

he knows his brother. he loves his brother. but he doesn't precisely understand how his mind works, even though he knows that rin seeks destruction even more than him for a good while, because that is not how he thinks.

his mind is always on soccer, on his interest and fascination with soccer, even without him dedicating his career to becoming the greatest midfielder in the world.

it's why he looks at isagi and mentions to rin that he acknowledges isagi's capabilities as a striker. because he's a soccer freak, and his mind is immediately drawn to observing isagi's capabilities and assessing the way he played soccer.

it's why he so obviously missed how much that pissed rin off. that rin had been looking up at him with such hope in his eyes, such a deeply ingrained desire for his recognition.

it's why he walks off that pitch completely oblivious to the damage he's done, that he had inadvertently sent rin down on the path of rivalry with isagi, where he would finally wind up discovering his reasons and desire to play soccer for himself.

that he succeeded in pushing rin towards playing soccer not as his little brother, but for himself. when pushing him so brutally away and destroying their dream several months prior had failed to do so. and that it was all be accident.

and it's why he leaves the field completely oblivious to the way rin feels.
