January 23rd, 1972 (Greenwich Village, New York): John and Yoko talk to DJ Howard Smith about Paul and Linda, the media, and the difficulty of communication.
YOKO: It’s especially between John and Paul, you know, because they’re so close to each other, that I’m sure in the past ten years, they’d be sort of – nagging at each other, whatever, you know, every day, and also, uh – cheering together, you know, that kind of thing. I mean, any couple would go through, you know, swearing at each other, to kissing and hugging, every day. When you do it—
JOHN: It is a strange thing, though, that all of the world would like four men to stay together, you know—
JOHN: —in blissful youthfulness, always shaking their heads, and being the fab four. And never having any women in the scene.
YOKO: Mm. It’s a very male chauvinist thing.
JOHN: It’s very strange, seeing the whole world wants – wants four fags to go on together – you know, forever. [laughs]
