Hi! Like the title says, I am disabled and have no income, so anything helps! ;_; I currently live with my abusive father who abuses me constantly by making me cook and clean for him but doesn't let me eat, so this money also helps me stay fed!

I would like to meet with my therapist and that costs 175$ per session: she is helping me get on disability as I have no help other than her! Please find it in your heart to help me get out of this place <3

Let me introduce you to the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930. Intended to be a protectionist tariff act to protect American businesses during the Great Depression, it actually WORSENED the depression in America and led to other countries implementing reactionary tariffs that led to both American imports AND EXPORTS dropping by 67%.

To end this thread on a more optimistic note, it's worth pointing out that Hoover lost re-election in 1932 to FDR and we got the New Deal out of it which pulled us out of the depression, established social security, and expanded labor rights. I'm hoping the same sort of thing will happen here.
