In the latest TV show ratings: Among non-football fare, CBS‘ returning NCIS led in viewers and tied NBC’s The Voice for the nightly demo win.
Opposite Monday Night Football on ABC, which averaged 8.4 million viewers and a 1.5 demo rating….
CBS | NCIS opened Season 22 with 6.4 million viewers and a 0.4 rating, on par with its previous averages; TVLine readers gave the premiere an average grade of “A-“; watch Katrina Law post mortem video. NCIS: Origins‘ double-episode series debut averaged 5 mil and a 0.3, shy of time slot predecessor NCIS: Hawaii‘s Live+Same Day Season 3 averages (5.2 mil/0.35, not up against MNF). Readers gave the prequel spinoff a grade of “B+,” with 87% planning to stay tuned; read post mortem about “her.”
NBC | The Voice (5.4 mil/0.4) was up in viewers, down in the demo week-to-week; now facing stifffer competition, the freshman drama Brilliant Minds (3.1 mil/0.2) dipped in both measures.
FOX | 9-1-1: Lone Star (2.4 mil/0.3) and Rescue HI-Surf (1.6 mil/0.2) both dropped some eyeballs.
THE CW | Superman & Lois (428K/0.1) dipped just a bit in audience; The Wranglers debuted to… 167K and a 0.0.

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in TVLine’s daily-ish ratings column do NOT reflect a television program’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. Steve Harvey is not a judge or lawyer and merely offers an alternative forum of dispute resolution

Matt: You can’t compare the ratings from NCIS: Origins to the ratings from NCIS: Hawaii Season 3. They weren’t up against MNF.
Fair-ish point, but it’s the only comp that’s handy. Fall 2022 Hawaii (3.8 mil/0.35) wasn’t always up against MNF either. But a qualifier for Hawaii‘s S3 numbers has been added.
Thanks for the qualifier but the headline is still a little misleading.
Let’s wait for the Live+7 to make any comparisons. See if Origins has anywhere near the bump that Brilliant Minds did on their premiere against MNF.
IMO Origins is too dark, poorly cast and has no vibe remotely reminiscent if NCIS.
It’s probably not fair to compare NCIS: Origins to season 3 NCIS: Hawaii’s numbers. I also think that a 2 hour episode might make the numbers go down, especially in the 2nd hour. We split the episodes to watch. We enjoyed it and liked seeing a young Gibbs and Franks.
Not a big fan of this new show. I did not like the actor playing Gibbs. I prefer NCIS Hawaii.
