The prime responsibility of a teacher is to help students to become good human beings, motivated to fulfil their true potential for their own benefit as well as for the betterment of the society as a whole. An attempt is made here to introduce new longitudinal and durable ideas for education for peace, by suggesting a mandatory peace curriculum. Developing capabilities for peace through broad based education involves behavioural, cognitive, spiritual and attitudinal components. Discourses of empathy and reconciliation in curriculum and pedagogy are critical components of reformation of peace education goals. Emphasising on critical thinking, problem solving, language and life skills as well as open mindedness, expressiveness, peacefulness, flexibility and sensitivity towards various global issues provide comprehensiveness to peace education. Various strategies recommended are integration of theory and practice to the potential of practical programmes, offering courses in peace and security studies, developing a relevant pedagogy for peace practioners in higher education setting, collective varieties and deeply rooted historical memories and societal beliefs, art-making activities, employing think-aloud strategies and mind\body oriented methods, setting up solidarity camps etc. are suggested.

The great significance of exhibition is that it fosters acquisition of different process skills leading to the development of multiple faculties of intelligence in a social context. In such a point of view, it shares very strong theoretical bases of Scientific Attitude, Multiple intelligence, and Social Constructivism. The main theme for the State Level & National Science Exhibitions for 2007-2008 in India was 'Science & Technology and Planet Earth'. Thorough analysis of the state level science exhibition of Puducherry state of India was conducted, so as to realize its' prospects and problems. The Exhibits include Still models, Working models and Investigatory Projects. Among the projects, assessed, scientific procedure is correctly followed in very few studies; in others, assumptions and beliefs were generalized. Student involvement in projects is comparatively higher than that of models. High school section performed far better than higher secondary section in number variety and in comprehensiveness in all categories, though higher secondary also was included in the competition.

Access to quality Mathematics Education is the right of every child. The document emphasizes that the main goal of mathematics education is to develop children's abilities for mathematisation. It also talks about a higher aim of School mathematics, that is, to develop the child's resources to think and reason mathematically to pursue assumptions to their logical consideration and to handle abstraction. This calls for a curriculum that is ambitious, coherent and teaching important principles of mathematics. But in the present day scenario, learning of mathematics is entirely different. Mathematics is considered as a very difficult subject and studying the subject as a herculean task. Many students hate mathematics and fail miserably in the subject. This paper attempts to find out whether the difficulty in the subject owes to the deformities in the prevailing Secondary school Curriculum of Kerala. Efforts are made to explore how far the NCF (2005) and KCF (2007) norms are followed in the current mathematics curriculum with special reference to the high school Mathematics text books. The paper also attempts to incorporate the drawbacks of the textbooks, a comparison of the old and new text books and suggestions to minimize the limitations embodied in the curriculum.

The term disaster usually meant for natural calamities. There of course may be a human hand behind each of the disasters , whether its' impact is small or large. Disasters can be categorized into natural and man made. In the case of natural disasters there may be some natural indicators to predict them all. But in countless man made ones the impact may be disastrous due to lack of concern by the persons responsible. Natural disasters can be classified into categories such as untimely rainfall and floods, quakes , tsunamis, cyclones, contagious diseases, etc. Identification , tracking and prediction of natural disasters are of high importance in reducing casualties .Combined efforts of indigenous and modern technology is an effective measure in this regard. Disaster management systems in various countries including India provides an idea about our preparedness in disaster management. In India administrative hazards cause increase damages in calamities. What strategy should be followed ? ,Who does the key role ? How far these are possible in Government level ? Which personalities should be included ? .Who will done it for whom ?. These are some of the key questions to be answered for an effective disaster management. Preparation , Mitigation, Rescue & Relief, and Rehabilitation are the main phases in a disaster management .Identification of the existing policies and facilities in the state has an important role. Persons suitable and feasible for each phase and their training in the corresponding area should be done. The role of students , teachers, teacher educators , machines and media in effecting efficient disaster management systems is vital for a sustainable future of life on earth. That is the significance of a holistic approach for DM. Isolated thoughts , preparation, awareness programmes, other activities etc., should be cooperatively integrated with the participation of all sections of the community , because disaster has no reservation to any special sections of community .There comes the importance of holism, in thoughts, preparation and action, of the community, for the community , and by the community. Any step taken today in this direction may be helpful for a big leap in future .
