New electric vehicles are considered zero-emission vehicles (ZEV). However, electricity produced in power plants is still predominantly based on fossil fuel usage (required for recharge electric vehicle batteries) and thus directly affects the quantity of pollutant emissions and greenhouse gases (CO 2 , NO x and SO x). Given the structure of EU-wide energy sources used for electricity generation, the potential pollutant emissions stemming from these energy sources, related to energy consumption of an electric vehicle, was determined under the projected environmental impact of specific market penetration of electric vehicles. In addition to the overall impact at the EU level, were identified the countries for which the use of electric vehicles is (or not) feasible in terms of reaching the lower values of future emissions compared to the present and fu...

Efficiency of specific work processes to agriculture is directly related to energy sources efficiency, energy sources used agricultural machinery and equipment. Importance is given by the contemporary massive growth of the degree of mechanization and automation of agricultural equipment. Energy sources (IC engines) efficiency is defined in general by the quality of transforming the fuels energy into useful heat energy and by the value of mechanical losses due to friction between the mechanisms relative moving. Using adequate lubrication oils can reduce friction losses. Rheological characteristics of lubricating oil directly influence the friction losses due to mechanical friction of IC engines internal mechanisms (piston group, valve train, fuel pump, crankshaft, bearings and seals etc.). The paper aims to determine by computer simulation process (numerical...

Challenges to the e ectiveness of speci c activities and production technologies in agriculture b... more Challenges to the e ectiveness of speci c activities and production technologies in agriculture become more pressing each day as worldwide demand for agricultural products increases. e mechanization of agriculture brings positive quantitative and qualitative e ects; however, the modernization of production tools (tractors and agricultural machinery) needs to be directly linked to increasing economic e ciency of use. Period of use and life expectancy of agricultural tractors can be increased by reducing the friction and wear that occurs among moving mechanical parts. A special case in point is the cold start process in compression ignition engines. In a cold start great forces develop, and a lack of lubricating oil lm can lead to the damage of engine components. is paper proposes use of an ultrasound emitter device that manages minimum energy consumption in order to modify the rheological properties of engine oil lubrication and reduce friction losses. e results of laboratory experiments were processed in a computer simulation of the diesel engine tractor cold start process. Losses due to internal friction among engine components were comparatively analyzed, and a lower percentage of friction loss was obtained through ultrasonic conditioning of lubricating oil. e proposed method o ers bene ts in terms of rational use and can prolong engine life with positive e ects on the economic e ciency of agricultural processes.

A low drag coefficient brings significant fuel savings and increased engine power efficiency. In designing and developing vehicles trough computer simulation process to determine the vehicles aerodynamic characteristics are using dedicated CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamics) software packages. However, the results obtained by this faster and cheaper method, are validated by experiments in wind tunnels tests, which are expensive and were complex testing equipment are used in relatively high costs. Therefore, the emergence and development of new low-cost testing methods to validate CFD simulation results would bring great economic benefits for auto vehicles prototyping process. This paper presents the initial development process of a Formula SAE Student race-car prototype using CFD simulation and also present a measurement system based on low-cost sensors through which CFD simulation results were experimentally validated. CFD software package used for simulation was Solid Works with the FloXpress add-on and experimental measurement system was built using four piezoresistive force sensors FlexiForce type. Reducing pollution from agriculture technological operations is a necessary condition to develop in the future agricultural development on a sustainable basis. To truly become a competitive fuel market, compared with fossil fuels, biofuels must optimize parameters related to characteristics of density, viscosity, freezing point and especially the specific calorific value. Global research about the efficient use of biofuels have emphasized only the immediate results of their use in supplying engines that equip tractors and agricultural machinery, related to consumption, pollution and wear of engines component parts. Theme and direction of research addressed in the paper represents an innovat...

To truly become a competitive fuel on market, compared with fossil fuels, biodiesels must optimize parameters related to characteristics of density, viscosity, freezing point and especially the specific calorific value. Research carried out so far has highlighted differences in the characteristics and physical parameters of biodiesel and fossil fuels (diesel oil). Thus, particularly high values of the freezing (-12 °C biodiesel and -20 °C diesel fuel) leads to worsening environmental process starting at low engine temperatures. This paper presents the working principle, technical data system and the experimental results obtaine...

In case of using biodiesel to fuel compression ignition engines, there is a decrease in effective power of the engine by 5 ... 15% [2, 4], but with concomitant reduction in the amounts of polluting gases (CO, CO2, HC). Most of fuel conditioning solutions proposed treatment of fuel or fuel-air mixture to increase engine performance, using special devices that can be mounted in the fuelling system of the engine. Only a small number of those require major constructive changes of engines fuelling system [1, 2]. The currently researches about the influence of ultrasound conditioning on fuel reveal the existence of variations (sometimes significant) of biofuels physico-chemical parameters values [3, 5, 8, 10, 11]. This paper presents a CFD simulatio...

This paper presents experimental results on a diesel engine effective power and torque performance of fueled with fuels based on rapeseed oil compared with diesel fuel. Fuels used in experimental research were mixtures of rapeseed oil, rapeseed methyl ester and diesel in different proportions: 80% diesel fuel -20% rapeseed oil, 50% diesel fuel -50% rapeseed oil, 25%diesel fuel -75 % rapeseed oil, 100% rapeseed oil, 100% rapeseed methyl ester (RME) and 100% diesel fuel as (reference fuel). Because the researches were focused on the use of fuels derived from rapeseed oil on the existing Romanian engines, the work initially focused on those factors that do not involve changes or adjustments to diesel engine. International researches conducted s...

These new classes of fuel must replace the fossil fuel in order to reduce the global pollution and to be friendly with the environment. The researches conducted until now in worldwide and also at the Biofuel Laboratory of Mechanic Faculty (under the supervision of prof. N. Burnete, Ph.D.) show that the biofuels based on vegetable oil can be an answer to the above mentioned issues. In addition, it is necessary to study the impact of this class of biofuels in time on the air and soil pollution, vegetable and animal products etc. The present paper presents the experimental researches about the environmental impact of using the biofuels comparatively with fossil fuels (diesel oil). The research methodology was making in order to respect the actual standards to obtain more accurate and confident results. The basic conclusion of conducted experiments is that the usi...

There are numerous scientific studies have shown that bioethanol-gasoline blends has several disadvantages. Functional parameters such as engine power, torque and BSFC are much inferior to the use of gasoline (in particular the use of fuel blends containing a higher volume of bioethanol 20%). One way to reduce these major drawbacks is the conditioning (reforming) of biofuels by external energy intake [6] in the form of direct ultrasonic irradiation, which represents an original approach in the biofuels research domain. The purpose of the experiments is to improve the energetic possibilities of biofuels, to can be use in a great proportion as blended fuel with fossil fuels. The paper presents the experimental results and data’s obtained studying the influence of ultrasonic ...
