En alguno de los intermedios –tal vez el más prolongado y animado– del Encuentro Nacional de Profesores de Contaduría Pública, me reuní de manera casual con Jhonny Steven Grajales- Quintero, quien vino con la delegación de los profesores de la Universidad del Valle, de donde es egresado del programa de Contaduría Pública y en donde se desempeña como docente de las sedes del Cauca y Buga de la misma institución. Después de agotar el comentario acerca del transcurrir del evento, sin poder precisar por cuál razón, comenzamos una conversación sobre literatura, tema en el que el profesor Jhonny demuestra muy rápidamente sentirse muy cómodo. Ahora, escribiendo estas líneas ante el computador, en este mi espacio, me detengo a mirar las caricaturas pegadas en el muro de al lado, son Jorge Luis Borges, Ernesto Sábato, Julio Cortázar y Adolfo Bioy-Casares, además de un pequeño cuadro de Pablo Neruda pintado hace tiempo y arriba, oteándolos, la vieja foto de Los Beatles, entonces recuerdo que la charla con Jhonny seguramente tuvo que pasar por ahí, por los latinoamericanos, pero también por los contraculturos estadounidenses Jack Kerouac y Allen Ginsberg, o los otros: William Faulkner, John Dos Passos, John Steinbeck, tal vez unos comentarios sobre Joseph Conrad y, por supuesto, al parecer, nuestros monstruos en común: James Joyce, Thomas Mann, Franz Kafka… En un momento de nuestra conversación, Jhonny me cuenta que escribió un texto que ha sido premiado y que hace referencia a la –un tanto extraña para nuestro medio– relación entre literatura y contabilidad, en el que intenta mostrar y, por supuesto, comentar esa tendencia prejuiciada y bastante extendida en los escritores de novelas en lo concerniente a la Contabilidad o a los contadores, le pregunto cuáles escritores y me desenfunda de sopetón una lista grande que va desde los nuestros Álvaro Mutis y Luis Fayad pasando por el nobel Imre Kertész o Roberto Bolaño hasta el lejano Gao Xingjian. Al día siguiente, el del cierre del evento, Jhonny me trae la revista Contaduría No. 51 de la Universidad de Antioquia, en la que aparece publicado su escrito premiado. Vuelvo a detenerme en las caricaturas y caigo en cuenta de que he omitido un sencillo cuadro que contiene otra caricatura del cronopio mayor cuyo fondo es una rayuela, dibujada en pleno descubrimiento y goce de lo que se me antojó en su momento era mi narrador de cabecera y leía entusiasmado El Libro de Manuel; entonces también recuerdo haber intercambiado comentarios con el profe Jhonny acerca de una novela corta de Bioy-Casares que se titula Dormir al sol, cuyo protagonista es dibujado como “el gris empleado de blanco, rutinario y aburrido”. Pasado y reposado el encuentro y leído por supuesto el artículo, se me ocurre que me interesa recrear estas ideas y me comunico con el profesor Grajales para proponerle una conversación, a lo que él con el mismo entusiasmo de nuestra charla inicial me contesta que claro. Entonces la complicidad está asegurada y un tinto virtual sirve de pretexto para emprender la charla y el texto.
