Two men working internationally through a connection on Academia.com have discovered that painter Johannes Vermeer, real name Jan Reijnierszoon, was ships Captain, had a house on Manhattan Island and mapped the New Netherlands and New Amsterdam, in America. Addison Thompson, American Art Collector, found Vermeer's real name amongst the court records, from 1658 of New Amsterdam. Vermeer had had defaulted on his payments for No. 13 Slyck Strasse, now 16 South William Street, a parking garage. The new owner noted the "wrethched little house, which was pulled down" after Vermeer sold it. Vermeer had Sibout Clasen, sell the property for him and he settled his debt with Evert Duyckingh, a stainglas window maker. We are familiar with Vermeer's maps, in the background, of his paintings. The maps have been assumed to be of Europe and Holland. One Thompson identified, is of Manhattan Island, in the background of Vermeer's painting the Artist in His Studio. Another shows the outline of America. On a third map of the New Netherland's, Thompson found Vermeer's name, "Het MeerV and Irocisian" in the style of Vermeer's signature, on his paintings. When he contacted Patrick Marugg, a Dutch Art Expert living in Spain. Marugg took a deep dive into the various names, in other parts of the Map. Then he searched Dutch shipping records from Holland and found Vermeer's real name as Ship's Captain of the Graf Hendriks. On the Map Marugg found where Vermeer had named a Bay, North of Cape Cod, Graf Hendriks Harbour. That is when Marugg wrote, "Bull's-Eye!"

The greetings in Pauline letters are remarkably consistent, following a standardized formula. Eight of the thirteen letters ascribed to Paul use an identical greeting, with only the greetings in Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, and the Pastorals diverging from the formula. Pauline thanksgivings, in contrast, are never exactly consistent with one another. This paper examines variance in the scribal conventions of greetings and thanksgivings in personal papyri letters and compares them to Paul. Particularly instructive are letters dictated by the same individual using different scribes, letters dictated to the same scribe by different individuals, and multiple letters handwritten by the same individual.
