This paper presents the results of the STASIS (www.stasis-project.net) project and applies it to the area of semantic interoperability within technologyenhanced learning platforms. Within the paper an innovative approach for creating a comprehensive application suite is introduced which allows partners to simplify the mapping process between data schemas of different e-Learning platforms. This mapping allows users to easily transfer content from one e-Learning platform to another and hence making it much easier to reuse e-Learning objects and to update to new e-Learning environments without spending serious resources on manual migration of content and user models.

This papers provides an overview of e-learning from its fundamentals (what is knowledge, what is teaching) through how e-learning is being implemented using campus-wide Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS). While others, such as , detail the transformation of education in light of changing technologies, this paper attempts from a variety of perspectives to make sense of the transformation. E-learning can be difficult to understand because different authors use the term differently. Still, beyond these apparent differences lies agreement on basics that this paper explores.

Formative Tests können für Lehrende und Lernende gleichermaßen nützlich sein. Webbasierte Multiple-Choice-Tests können helfen, den Aufwand für formative Tests zu senken und somit einen breiteren und häufigeren Einsatz zu ermöglichen. Wirstellen ein Modul für das Content-Management-System Plone vor, das es erlaubt, MC-Tests genau wie andere Ressourcen einzusetzen und zu verwalten. Auf diese Weise können vorallem in Präsenzveranstaltungen, für die üblicherweise keine Lernplattform verwendet wird, Tests eng mit den anderen online verfügbaren Lehr-und Lernmaterialien (z. B. Vo rlesungsskripten oder Aufgabenblättern) verknüpft werden. Das Modul erlaubt auch den Import und Export vonAufgaben gemäß IMS QTI; in diesem Zusammenhang diskutieren wir auch unsere Erfahrungen mit dieser Spezifikation.

This article describes a 12-month qualitative study that analyzes how a company's transition to component content management (CCM)-a set of methodologies, processes, and technologies that allows working with texts as small components rather than complete, static documentsinfluences the work motivation of its technical communicators. The analysis is based on actor-network theory and the theories of work motivation from economics. When technical communicators felt that CCM's only focus was efficiency and savings and that they were not recognized and connected to the fruits of their labor, their motivation decreased. But their motivation increased when they were engaged in job crafting-reshaping their understanding of the fruits of their labor and gaining recognition through prosocial behavior.

Today, many organizations maintain a variety of systems and databases in a complex ad-hoc architecture that does not seem to fulfill the needs for company-wide unstructured information management in business processes, business functions, and the extended enterprise. We describe a framework to implement Enterprise Content Management (ECM) in order to address this problem. ECM refers to the technologies, tools, and methods used to capture, manage, store, preserve, and deliver content (e.g. documents, graphics, drawings, web pages) across an enterprise. The framework helps to select content objects that can be brought under ECM to create business value and guide the IT investments needed to realize ECM. The framework was tested in a large high tech organization.

This paper provides an overview of the ePaper project. The project aims to provide an end-to-end solution for the future mobile personalized newspaper. The ePaper aggregates content (i.e., news items) from various news providers, and delivers personalized newspapers on dedicated mobile, electronic newspaper-like, devices. The ePaper can provide to each subscribed user a personalized newspaper, according to the user's preferences, as well as a "standard edition" of a selected newspaper. The layout of the newspaper is adapted to the device's specifications and the user's preferences. The ePaper is expected to change the reading experience of newspapers and magazines, coupling innovative paper-like display with novel personalization algorithms, intuitive interface and new adaptation methods of content to device.

If we want IS/ICT to fully support business processes in their highest potential, many views and relations must be respected. System architecture is the tool that enables us to describe these relations. When we build the architecture we must formulate the content, management and enforcement process in the organization. This paper focuses on the concept of Enterprise Architecture.

Content management systems (CMS) provide an optimal solution by organising information and, mostly, creating and managing an enterprise's knowledge. Nevertheless there is a big confusion about the functionalities that characterise CMS and about the differences with less performing products such as web content management systems, document and records management systems and enterprise content management systems. This paper aims to show the mismatches between companies' needs and those information management products, which are often called CMS even if they are not.

This business case demonstrates how the implementation of the open source web content management system (WCMS) Joomla will help to address the current business goals and needs of the Australia Institute (TAI).  In addition the business case outlines the benefits and value of adopting an open source solution, makes recommendations and justifies investment in WCMS.  Its also addresses some of the challenges and issues associated with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a WCMS.  This business case does not cover any financial cost benefit analysis of adopting a WCMS.  It is assumed that such analysis would be carried out after general support for the implementation of this technology is obtained.

Organizations increasingly utilize Web Content Management Systems (WCMS) to improve development speed, online flexibility and cost effectiveness for web applications. However, organizations lack the organizational processes and structure to effectively maintain WCMS. We propose a WCMS Process Framework for the operation and maintenance phase of Web Engineering. In this paper we elaborate on the construction of the framework. It encompasses the description of a generic IT Management framework and the inclusion of Web Content Management processes into a strategic, tactical, and operational level. The framework is validated through an expert validation consisting of three industry experts and a case study at a large Dutch telecommunications services provider. The case study substantiates our vision that the WCMS Process Framework contains a set of process descriptions that effectively supports the operations and maintenance of web applications.

Abstract. The high cost of data consolidation is the key market inhibitor to the adoption of traditional information integration and data warehousing solutions. In this paper, we outline a next-generation integrated database management system that takes traditional information integration, content management, and data warehouse techniques to the next level: the system will be able to integrate a very large number of information sources and automatically construct a global business view in terms of “Universal Business Objects”. We describe techniques for discovering, unifying, and aggregating data from a large number of disparate data sources. Enabling technologies for our solution are XML, web services, caching, messaging, and portals for real-time dashboarding and reporting. 1

Ontologies are entering widespread use in many areas such as knowledge and content management, electronic commerce and the Semantic Web. In this paper we show how the use of ontologies has helped us overcome some important problems in the development of pervasive computing environments. We have integrated ontologies and Semantic Web technology into our Pervasive Computing infrastructure. Our investigations have shown that the Semantic Web technology can be integrated into our CORBAbased infrastructure to augment several important services. This work suggests a number of requirements for future research in the development of ontologies, reasoners, languages and interfaces.

It has become increasingly clear that courts across the globe must do more to better organize and manage their caseload and that automation alone is not the answer. In response to this need, case flow management has emerged to become the central method of promoting greater court responsibility and accountability for efficient case processing. For over thirty years court case management concepts have evolved, starting in the United States (U.S.), spreading to other industrialized common law countries initially. Yet, for many judicial systems, the concept, techniques, and supporting systems of case flow management are still relatively new ideas that need to be more fully understood. Procedural content generation (PCG) is an increasingly important area of technology within modern human-computer interaction (HCI) design. Personalization of user experience via affective and cognitive modeling, coupled with real-time adjustment of the content according to user needs and preferences are important steps toward effective and meaningful PCG. Games, Web 2.0, interface, and software design are among the most popular applications of automated content generation. The paper provides a taxonomy of PCG algorithms and introduces a framework for PCG driven by computational models of user experience. This approach, which we call Experience-Driven Procedural Content Generation (EDPCG), is generic and applicable to various subareas of HCI. We employ games as an example indicative of rich HCI and complex affect elicitation, and demonstrate the approach's effectiveness via dissimilar successful studies.

Secure and trusted distribution of multimedia content is a key issue for content creators, content providers and distributors, as they want to fight piracy and receive the revenues derived from their creativity work. The provision of trust and protection has not been already solved by the existing multimedia distribution mechanisms. Such mechanisms lie on proprietary architectures and tools, and users have to cope with different viewers and players to consume multimedia contents. In order to provide enhanced multimedia capabilities to final users, several standards and initiatives have appeared. Our aim is to take profit of their effort to define an architecture flexible enough to provide the needed functionality to all the actors in the distribution value chain, protecting multimedia content from unauthorised usage.

Creating a digital Manga comic for mobile devices is chalenging because of the limitation of device's screen size and time consuming of the process. In this paper, we proposed an efficient method for automatically creating mobile content of digital Manga comic from scanned of printed digital comic by extracting comic frame, comic balloon and Japanese character within a Manga comic then recompose it a new mobile content using ComicXML to store comic frame content information. Experimental results on Manga content extraction have 81.6% accuracy of non-flat comic page frame extraction, 100% accuracy of comic balloon detection, and about 93.75% accuracy of Japanese character text extraction.

Networking research funding agencies in the USA, Europe, Japan, and other countries are encouraging research on revolutionary networking architectures that may or may not be bound by the restrictions of the current TCP/IP based Internet. We present a comprehensive survey of such research projects and activities. The topics covered include various testbeds for experimentations for new architectures, new security mechanisms, content delivery mechanisms, management and control frameworks, service architectures, and routing mechanisms. Delay/Disruption tolerant networks, which allow communications even when complete end-to-end path is not available, are also discussed.

system  activities  and  finds  if  any  malicious  operations  occur.  Tremendous  growth  and  usage  of  internet raises  concerns  about  how  to  protect  and  communicate  the  digital  information  in  a  safe  manner. Nowadays,  hackers  use  different  types  of  attacks  for  getting  the  valuable  information.  Many  intrusion detection techniques, methods and algorithms help to detect these attacks. This main objective of this paper is  to  provide  a  complete  study  about  the  definition  of  intrusion  detection,  history,  life  cycle,  types of intrusion detection methods, types of attacks, different tools and techniques, research needs, challenges and applications.

This paper deals with nature protection system in Serbia with activities for protection of nature sites and their complex contents, management, expert surveillance, education and promotion. Special attention is paid to protection of surface waters in the light of great strategic significance of water resources and absolutely certain drinking water crisis in near future. A new term has been introduced as well -hydrological heritage and its place in the Serbian and European geoheritage frame; within categories of protected natural properties a new one is proposed -water reserve with the aim to emphasize the importance of direct protection of surface waters as the result of evident increase of the need for drinking water as a global trend. In the Summary of Protected Natural Properties of Serbia, where the water has a dominant role, it is pointed to the current conceived importance of surface waters protection as well as the need to pay to this subject adequate and great attention. Introduction of new terms in the nature protection concept of Serbia, protection of new sites with the aim of conserving reserves of drinking water for the future generations has been proposed as well.

Apostó por la investigación y desarrollo de productos panificables, con un alto nivel de calidad, siendo una propuesta diametralmente opuesta a la panadería convencional. Este texto hace énfasis en la óptica del diseño, en el #BreadDrivenByDesign, desarrollado por Viviana Moreno @laTroconis, desde febrero del 2014 a julio del 2017.

Research problem: Content strategy, whether narrowly focused on the production of web-based materials for customers or managing the data, information, and documentation of an entire enterprise, has become the latest in a series of movements and methods that have sought to improve the integration of professional and technical communication with the marketing, training, and business processes of organizations. Research questions: How is content strategy defined and described in professional and scholarly literature? What do these definitions and descriptions suggest about the direction of the field of professional and technical communication? Literature review: The theoretical foundation of this study is Classical Rhetorical theory which, for thousands of years, has provided critical methods and vocabularies for the analysis of discourse; my purpose in using it here is to rely on a consistent lens that has served professional and technical communicators well. Classical rhetorical principles can give us useful insight into content strategy, the latest in a series of movements that have captured the attention of professional and technical communicators because they have promised to expand the scope of the work and move the work from the fringes of organizational activity to the center. Previous movements include knowledge management, single sourcing, and content management. Methodology: Because content strategy is an emerging area, I conducted an integrative literature review to characterize this emerging field. This involved a systematic search of peer-reviewed and professional literature on content strategy that met specific qualifications, reading and collecting information from each source about its answers to the research question and its authorship, and analyzing those data to find patterns in them. Results and conclusions: Because only two peer-reviewed sources existed on content strategy, the majority of the literature reviewed emerged from the trade press. I s- rvey the definitions of content and content strategy provided by this literature, and found that almost every definition uses content as part of the definition, leading to some lack of clarity in all of those definitions. But three areas of consensus exist among the definitions: that content strategy is: (a) more inclusive of the lifecycle of content (addressing the processes of creating, revising, approving, publishing, and revising material), (b) integrated with technical and business requirements, and (c) largely focused on material used by customers and, therefore, focused on marketing and support documents. It primarily focuses on traditional genres of content and overlooks emerging genres. The literature suggests that content strategy provides a pathway to make the work of technical communicators more central to organizations. But the literature offers only broad advice for doing so, with few examples (other than some specific templates, which primarily benefit those who already have experience with content strategy). The advice primarily comes from authors working in consulting firms and, as a result, might not reflect the challenges that professional and technical communicators who work internally experience.

The aim of this paper is to present advantages and disadvantages of a selection of current reference and digital objects linking models and projects and to explore a possibility for their implementation in the Croatian Internet space too meet the needs of academic community members for easier discovery and delivery of scientific works regardless of their format or storage location.

Sağlık iletişimi son yıllarda hem dünyada hem de Türkiye’de sıklıkla ifade edilmekte, sağlık alanında faaliyet gösteren kurum ve kuruluşlar ve bunun yanı sıra toplumda yaşayan bireyler için önemli bir yer tutmaktadır.  İletişim ve sağlık kavramlarının birbirleri ile ortak çalışmalar yapmaya başlaması birtakım ekonomik, toplumsal, teknolojik değişme ve gelişmelerin neticesinde başlamıştır. Sağlık iletişimi günümüzde çok farklı düzeylerde gerçekleşmektedir. Bir doktorun hastası ve yakınları ile kurduğu iletişim, bir hastanenin çalışanlarının hasta ve yakınları ile kurduğu iletişim, devlet ve STK’ların çeşitli hedef kitlelere yönelik düzenlediği kampanyalar yoluyla kurduğu iletişim gibi birçok şekilde gerçekleşmektedir. Hastanelerde halkla ilişkiler uygulamaları önemli sağlık iletişimi yöntemlerinden biridir. Bu makale özellikle kamu hastanelerine oranla sosyal medyayı daha fazla kullanan ve bu yolla içerik yönetimi uygulamaya çalışan özel hastanelerin halkla ilişkiler çalışmaları göz önünde bulundurularak hazırlanmıştır. Hastanelerde kurumun tanınırlığını ve bilinirliliğini arttırmak, kurumsal imaja katkıda bulunmak ve bu yolla kurumsal itibarı arttırmak, kurum kültürünün değerlerini çalışanlara aktarmak, hasta memnuniyetini sağlamak, kamuoyunu hastalıklar hakkında bilgilendirmek, sağlık hizmetlerine yönelik bilgi vermek, hastalıklar hakkında farkındalık yaratmak, istenilen yönde tutum ve davranış değişikliği yaratmak vb. birçok amaca yönelik olarak yapılan halkla ilişkiler çalışmalarında bunlara yönelik içerikler oluşturulmaktadır. Bu içerikler oluşturulurken hastanelerin son yıllarda hedef kitleleri ile aralarında interaktif bir ortam sağlayan, hedef kitlenin de içerik oluşumuna katkıda bulunabildiği sosyal medyadan sıkça faydalandığı ve halkla ilişkilerde önemli bir kavram olan içerik yönetimine başvurduğu gözlemlenmektedir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’nin büyük özel hastanelerinden biri olan Medical Park Hastaneler Grubu’nun hangi sosyal medya uygulamalarından faydalandığı ve bu noktada içerik yönetimini nasıl oluşturduğu incelenmiştir.

This study attempts to trace the evolution of scholarly communication from the days of publication of Journal-des-Scavans to the era of web 2.0, explaining the Open Access (OA) movement in brief. The views of Harnad on OA are highlighted. The emergence of Open Access 2.0 is put in context. This study also explains science 2.0 as the emerging practice in scientific knowledge sharing and scholarly communication. The positives and drawbacks of science 2.0 are discussed. Some of the science 2.0 concepts like OpenWetware, PLoS and other science 2.0 systems used in scientific research for communication as put forth by Hooker and Surridge are cited to indicate that science 2.0 is the future for scholarly communication.

En este artículo se recopila y estudia la Gestión de Contenidos
Educativos, realizada por el Ministerio de Educación Nacional (MEN), mostrando cómo se puede realizar una gestión efectiva y eficaz a través de estrategias basadas en la innovación mediante el desarrollo de las etapas de uso, apropiación y producción, en este caso de contenidos educativos digitales. Como gran resultado de esta estrategia se presenta el Ciclo de Gestión de Contenidos, conocimiento consolidado de las acciones realizadas frente a la visión del Ministerio, en el desarrollo del tema y dejando las bases para una discusión académica sobre dicha visión.
Para mostrar la aplicación de dicha estrategia se muestra la gestión realizada desde el MEN en torno a Objetos de Aprendizaje (OA), como un proyecto enfocado hacia el fomento y cobertura de la educación superior en universidades de diversas regiones del país, demostrando cómo la estrategia ha producido resultados concretos de gran impacto y de reconocimiento nacional e internacional. Al finalizar, se plantea el panorama a corto, mediano y largo plazo en la gestión de contenidos educativos, enfatizando cómo la producción de contenidos representa un
panorama de progreso e internacionalización de la academia
colombiana.

In this paper the concepts of content management and cross-cultural communication are combined under the perspective of translation resources. Global content management becomes an integrative paradigm in which specialised translation is taking place.

MPEG-7, formally known as Multimedia Content Description Interface, includes standardized tools (descriptors, description schemes, and language) enabling structural, detailed descriptions of audiovisual information at different granularity levels (region, image, video segment, collection) and in different areas (content description, management, organization, navigation, and user interaction). It aims at supporting and facilitating a wide range of applications such as media portals, content broadcasting, and ubiquitous multimedia. In this paper, we present a high-level overview of the MPEG-7 standard. We first discuss the scope, basic terminology, and potential applications. Next, we discuss the constituent components. Then, we compare the relationship with other standards to highlight its capabilities. Some parts of the standard are also covered in depth in this special issue in which this paper appears.
