About this ebook

Inspector Strong receives an invite to a DC conference from the FBI. He has FBI security from home, to the airport, to the hotel and in the hotel. He meets with the National FBI Director Shnell with few people knowing it.
The Director says, “Inspector, I have had two agents killed in the same way in two different cities. Can you help me?”
HLS security is running the conference and wonders why the Inspector is not attending some sessions?
The HLS running the conference did some computer checking on the Inspector. It got himself a security breech and a call from his boss, “Back off.”
The Inspector is worried about five other unrelated FBI agents. His hotel suite is bombed, another one is broken into. All the special phones given him are destroyed.
He is out on his own in DC to solve the case. He can trust no one.

    Chapter 1 The Invitation

Ted McClearly is the Regional FBI Director for the Northwest, headquartered in Seattle. He first met Inspector Strong when the Inspector was a Major in the Army. Ted was the lesion officer between base security and the Military Police commanded by Major Strong.

Ted is five years younger than Inspector Strong and almost an exact opposite. He is the typical FBI agent, tall, a full head of hair, all business, posture almost too perfect.

He was promoted to the Major’s position Inspector Strong held in the military police. The Inspector had recommended his replacement be Ted McClearly, then a Captain in the police force.

After several years more in the military, Ted left to join the FBI running one of their special ops units. The FBI quickly recognized his management as well as his tactical skills. He moved from a high-profile FBI Command Center to the Seattle Regional Directorship. He is a more hands on Director than most. Except for FBI staff he goes simply by the name Ted.

He is now a steelhead-fishing buddy with Inspector Strong. They hit the rivers whenever it rains more than two inches in Seattle They have been involved in several cases that have crossed many jurisdictions with security reaching the highest levels

Ted picks up his phone and speed dials his long-time fishing buddy, Earl Strong. It is still a few months away for the steelhead fishing to starts but the new fishing tackle is out now. In his office Earl is re-reading a case file before closing it.

The Inspector oversees the Homicide Division in the police department. This is unusual; the division may have a Captain; usually it would be a Major. An Inspector is more like a Chief than either a Captain or a Major.

The Inspector’s name is Strong. Earl Strong, class of 1940, University of Texas. He was a Major in the Military Police. Early 60’s, stands about 5 feet 9 inches, weight 150 pounds, and what’s left of his hair is buzzed into a crew cut.
