      CHAPTER 1

      ROUND NOSE

      Round nose, whispered Kiara while tracing her pointy delicate nose and thought about her latest and only unfortunate love interest. She hadn’t seen his face yet, but she had a habit of noticing noses first, so she had asked him what his nose was like and he’d reply, As round as the Earth, ma’am. Imagining him calling her ma’am was still something that melted Kiara’s stone-cold heart. He justified this act by explaining that his mentor instructed him to always address the elders respectfully even if they were a year older and especially if they were women. Kiara was known, loved, and hated in her circles for being quite vocal and protesting for women’s issues and rights. So it was quite beautifully surprising to meet a man who did not disregard her based on her gender.

      Okay, please do remember your assignments for tomorrow. You must not forget them. I will not accept any excuses except signed health slips and deaths. I don’t care if your partner is incompetent. Your grade is your responsibility. You can’t sue your partner for not graduating. Have a good day and be darlings enough to clean your desks before leaving, yelled Miss Aubergine in her calm yet controlling voice.
