About this ebook

Just who is God?

Has the truth about God been hidden from the church but in plain sight all the time?

Have you wrestled with why the Old Testament sounds like God is a God of wrath and judgment, yet Jesus Christ, who spoke only the Father's words, said the opposite? If the Bible seems to contradict itself, the church has had its inte

God Is Out of the Shadows - Delores J. Porter

    Dedication

I want to dedicate this book to all who have ever had a great loss in their lives.

One thing I do believe is that the deaths and hardships in the lives of people have always grieved the very heart of God. And according to the authentic message of Jesus Christ, God has never orchestrated the adversities in any one’s life.

God doesn’t do evil that good may come. Neither does He control the devil or evil people.

I dedicate this book to all who want to know God in a greater way than ever before. God has protection, help, and healing for everyone who will believe in Him. It is His desire to heal all sickness and restore businesses and jobs. But in order for you to trust God to help in the time of need, you must first know who God is!

I pray that as you visit these pages, God will come out of the shadows into light in your minds and hearts from His own words through the only eye witness we have of God: Jesus Christ and His words. You will understand what God cannot do solitarily on this earth without our faith, believing, and receiving and what He desires to do in your life and mine.

I pray for the restoration of your lives with God’s blessings as you begin to know and trust the one true God of love to meet your needs.

    Introduction

The scriptures in this book about God also lay a foundation for understanding the truth about God in the Book of Revelation and end time prophesies, which most people are interested in today during these storms of life. But when you have fables in the very character of God, then those fables filter into the future or end time doctrine, too, and cause a very confused end time of events. If the foundation is off, nothing will line up correctly with the cornerstone, Jesus Christ. But the end time is another story, another book. One thing we know is that Jesus said there was an anti-Christ spirit around Him when He ministered on this earth, and there are certainly many here today.

I do believe in a victorious eschatology (end time). Scriptures say that Jesus will return for His glorious church (Bride) without spot or wrinkle:

That he (Christ) might sanctify and cleanse it (the church, saints) with the washing of water (Holy Spirit) by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

    Ephesians 5:26–27

This sounds like a church full of the power of the Holy Spirit and victory over evil, not a church scared and hiding under the pews. God (the Father is the husbandman) is patiently waiting for the Early and Latter Rain Awakening Revival, a move of God that I believe will be a double portion of the first church recorded in the Book of Acts.

While most of the church is waiting on a God, they think He is solitarily in total control to do what He wants when He wants and come back any time to get them out of this dark world. Actually, according to God’s Word, He is waiting on us to turn on His light. God has provided all we need in His Divine Partnership to do His mission. God wants you and me to be filled and receive the power of His Holy Spirit and His Word, along with the assistance of His warrior angels, to destroy the works of evil in the lives of people on this earth!

God wants to prepare us for the last and Third Reformation of the church, the revival that will never end because it will usher in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ! Now we have a very important job to do! When it starts, it can be a quick work! It won’t be easy, but it will be exciting!

Where do we start? In order for us to understand what our part of God’s plan consists of, we must understand God’s true character, Who God really is! and what He does and does not do. Jesus came to reveal the truth about God, and He did just that; He came with truth and misery. That means Jesus taught something that wasn’t known before! The first church had the truth and took the gospel to every tongue and nation at that time, with signs and wonders following all the believers.

But after that, most of the believers of that first church were martyred, leaving more freedom for Satan, the deceiver, the father of lies, to sow his seeds of deception and destruction into the very heart and doctrine of Christianity. Why would he do that?

Satan’s idea and plan has been to try to stop the church, the body of believers, from destroying his evil works here on God’s earth. What are these evil works of Satan? We can look around or watch the news and witness Satan’s deception and traps of bondage everywhere in the lives of people. His plans are to steal, kill, and destroy. But we pray, claim, and declare that God’s remnant of righteous, godly people arise and reclaim the truth of Jesus Christ! I believe this remnant will win the multitudes for Jesus Christ, and this will snow-ball into the multitudes that will keep coming. People are hungry to see a real revival that changes lives and makes a difference in how we see God and our world around us!

I pray that the study of the scriptures on these pages, along with the inspired revelation of the Holy Spirit, will help you know God in a greater way than you have ever known Him. We serve one true God who works in three ways: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost/Spirit in the spirit of mankind who receive Him with one character, not three different personalities. And I pray you will be encouraged to join God’s boot camp of prayer and Bible study and join God’s army that is preparing the way for the return of our Lord.

We must get to the meat (spiritual meaning) of the scripture because I am afraid most of the church may still be on the milk (natural illustration) of the Word and don’t even know there is a difference. They are blinded and don’t even know they need a change. This younger generation has not experienced the real miraculous move of the Holy Spirit in the church services (even in the Pentecostal and Charismatic churches) as some of us experienced growing up in the 50s, 60s, and in some of the 70s, so they don’t have a clue they are missing anything.

The name of Jesus may be on the doors or signs of many buildings across our nation, but it is sad when we realize that Jesus and the true message about God have not been welcome inside.

God’s table is always spread and has everything that everyone needs: healing for spirit, soul, and body and deliverance from the bondage of strongholds. But do the people know about the availability of God’s table of gifts, free paid for them by Jesus at Calvary?

When we read God’s Word, His Holy Spirit will always accompany it and give understanding and revelation to that Word.

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

    1 John 2:27

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

    Isaiah 28:9–10

I believe that the truth about God has been in the shadows for far too long!

The main aim of all my writings is to show and prove the real character of God, who is called Jehovah by the Hebrews in the Old Testament. This same God is our Father Deity. My desire is to defend what Jesus revealed about the Father.

I feel like a lawyer defending our God and a prosecuting attorney revealing the lies and deceptions Satan has slipped into our own Christian foundation (or teaching of God’s character), which have influenced how we see life and our God. I pray that the Holy Spirit will move through the scriptures on these pages, and you, too, will have a burning desire to share the goodness of God with those around you! Then God’s army will grow strong in faith and in the power of the Holy Spirit as we prepare for this Last Day Revival!

The church is rendered powerless without the truth of the Word! And it is the truth of God’s Word that builds faith in us for God to do His miracles in us and through us! This is why it is impossible to please God without faith. Yet, if God was in total control, as people have been taught, there would be little need for faith—if God was going to do what and when to whom He wills anyway. Think about that. It doesn’t make sense. My friends, we have been cheated right out of our miracles! And many have died far too early. These subjects will be continued in book three, God Has Never Said NO to Anyone’s Healing. But before we can get that kind of faith to do the great commission in our day, we must first get to know the truth about God.

    Part I

    God the Father

    Chapter One:

The Infiltration of Fables That Weakened God’s Church

Haven’t you been told, The bad situation in your life is God allowing it to teach you something or to make you stronger? This is so discouraging. Jesus said in this world, there is tribulation, but rejoice, I’ve overcome it. And we can, too, by trusting Him and His Word. God is not the source of the trouble; He delights in being the deliverer out of it. God has never orchestrated the adversities in anyone’s life. Jesus didn’t say, In God the Father is tribulation, and He wouldn’t have said, I have overcome the Father, would He? Jesus said, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33).

How did the church get so off track from the teachings of Jesus Christ?

What are these fables that have weakened the faith of the church and stolen our miracles? We will view these in chapter three. Where did these fables about God’s character come from?

Who brought them into the Christian foundation, and in what area of time did this happen?

It is my desire that these questions will be answered to some satisfaction in simple language through research and scriptures that are easy to understand on these pages throughout this book.

I pray that the truth about God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit will come out of the shadows and into the hearts and lives of all those who truly want to know Him better than they ever have before in a one-on-one Divine Partnership with the Father God through Jesus Christ.

How have Bible scholars, through all these years, missed the main teachings of Jesus Christ about the character of God the Father? Have they believed commentaries of scholars who came before them and just taught the same thing that they taught? How could the early theologians have more knowledge than Jesus, who came and taught before them? Jesus said to Phillip, He that has seen me, has seen the Father. Jesus must be our source of doctrine.

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

    John 14:9–10

Jesus answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me (John 7:16).

Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things (John 8:28).

Where would Satan start if he wanted to weaken the power and mission of the church and weaken the prayers of the saints that are supposed to defeat him? Wouldn’t he try to confuse the minds of religious leaders who would come after Jesus and reform what Jesus taught, hiding some of the most important biblical truths from the church?

In chapter two, you will see where and when and by whom this infiltration of fables entered into the very foundation of our Christian protestant church. And it is said by many theologians that our very doctrine was reformed and changed, changing the very words that Jesus taught about the Father God! It has crippled the church by stealing its power and dominion over evil on this earth that God had always intended for mankind. It has stolen the miracles of the church, rendering it nearly helpless against the demonic force that has been slowly destroying it! And the saddest and scariest reality is that it started so long ago that most of the modern church today don’t even know that there is anything missing or even a problem.

Most Bible scholars do agree that we are living in the last of the last church age, the biblical end time, called the Laodicean Church Age.

And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, (Jesus) the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

    Revelation 3:14–15

Meaning: If cold, we would know we need a Savior; and of course, if hot in His Spirit, we would already be His child and soldier in His army and have the realization that we always need more of His Spirit’s revelation of His Word and power of His Spirit to fulfill His purpose on this earth.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth (Revelation 3:16).

Meaning: He can’t do anything for those who refuse His help because of our free will. The next Bible verse really explains our modern church: God still loves us, and that love will never change. This is our church age!

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

    Revelation 3:17–18

People close their own eyes, Jesus said:

For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

    Matthew 13:15–17

Meaning: If we are blinded to the truth about God and His Word, then, just the same, we are naked of the Word of God, no understanding or revelation, no armor, no covering, now that makes people wretched and miserable!

Isn’t it by far past time for the church to be reformed again? But this time, it must be brought back to the truth of Jesus Christ, which is the truth about God! When the church is without truth, it suffers without the power of God, and the whole world and America suffer as they grow farther from God! How cold and empty is a whole church denomination when half of its people vote to allow fornication into the very pulpits to teach the Holy Word of God? And have our holy scriptures been changed and altered in some of the new translations to match the fables that have been accepted about the character of God?

I was awakened early this morning with thoughts about this Third Reformation and the coming renewal and revival of the ministry of Jesus Christ! Tears flowed to even think about its importance!

Most of the ideas about God come from the Bible universities to the pulpits, to radio and TV, then to the secular world. It has been said, The spiritual temperature of a nation depicts the spiritual temperature of its church. We hear people say all the time, Well, everything happens for a purpose! Sounds like the same wrong theology influenced that statement. I say, But whose purpose? Not God’s!

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent (1 Corinthians 1:19).

    Webster’s American Dictionary: Prudent

    Wise or judicious in practical affairs;

    Discreet or circumspect; cautious.

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

    1 Corinthians 1:20–21

Yes, Lord, where is Your teacher, preacher, and lay member, and Your Bible scholar, made wise by Your Spirit? Where is Your remnant that has been washed by Your Word? Who will be willing to carry a fresh anointing of the truths that Jesus taught?

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his (God’s) presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

    1 Corinthians 1:26–31

Has there been a missing link in the study about God? My family and I believe that the study of the law of sin and death has been a huge missing link since before the Dark Ages of Christianity. This is the reason that this law of sin and death is a thread through my books, investigating what it is, where it came from, and who enforces it on people. How we can be set free from it, through the law of the spirit of life in Jesus Christ, must be a priority in Christian revelation.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

    Romans 8:1–2

We believe that most of the confusion about God has been because He is called one and the same with the wrath and judgment of this law called the law of sin and death, calling the bad events just God’s righteous judgment. Satan wants to hide himself, hide the truth about God, and the truth about the power of our prayers against him and his evil. (A more complete study of these laws will be in chapter seven.)

Since Jesus said only what the Father told Him to say, why shouldn’t we believe what God the Father said about Himself? So why would we take man’s logic and reasoning before the words of Jesus?

For the church to be restored to the same anointing power of the Holy Spirit as that of the first church with miracles, signs, and wonders, we must search the scriptures and revisit the authentic message of Jesus Christ. For example, when Jesus said, The Father judges no man, that is exactly what He meant. Jesus said all of the following words! But how many times have you heard these scriptures read and taught? Not often or at all. Have they been just skipped over as though they aren’t even there?

For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: (John 5:22)

As the Son of man, Jesus came to judge the prince of this earth, which He did at Calvary.

Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged (John 16:11).

And Jesus said, Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man (John 8:15).

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. (John 12:46–48)

At the judgment, Jesus will just open the books. Those being judged will have already judged themselves by their own free will choices that they made. And if mankind will be judged by the same words of Jesus on judgment day, shouldn’t we need to know the content of that Word?

If God was in total control or orchestrating every event, He would have to be continually judging people, deciding what to allow or put on whom to teach them something.

We must try to get rid of as many missing links as possible in our study about God, and we must consider all of God’s covenants and promises, for they cannot change, and not a Word that has come out of God’s mouth can be altered.

My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips (Psalm 89:34).

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away (Luke 21:33).

Consider the meaning of a covenant:

    Webster’s American Family Dictionary: Covenant

An agreement between two or more persons to do or not to do something specified.

According to the scriptures above, God and His Word cannot change. So think about this: the people who teach and say that God is sovereign and in total control, meaning God does what He wills, when He wills, to whom He wills. Wouldn’t this leave out His covenants and promises? And that would leave out His own first covenant with the angels and with all mankind, which is the law of free will and sowing and reaping? Then, are they actually saying, God lied in His Word about His unchangeable covenants, which are all recorded in the scriptures? And what about His promises that He spoke through Jesus? Hopefully, you will see through the scriptures in this book that God’s covenants and promises depend on our own actions, as in God’s Divine Partnership with mankind.

Both Protestants and Catholics say we are Christian, but most of the Christian Bible institutes still teach some fables about the character of God that I believe Satan slipped into our doctrine after the first church took the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations at that time, with signs and wonders following them.

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

    Mark 16:19–20

Then, according to history, about 75 percent of those people were martyred for upholding the true gospel, while the remnant of God’s people were forced to go undercover and didn’t speak much in public again until around 1500 AD. This caused the Dark Ages of Christianity, including the medieval time, along with the barbarian evil Roman Empire that started taking charge of the religion at that time.

God has given us His Holy Spirit and His Word of Truth to be our armor for battle as well as our ammunition to defeat the evil of sin and sickness.

God is still waiting on us; we are not waiting on Him. The church has been fooled by Satan. The interpretation of God’s Word and our armor has been damaged. But God has promised to rise up a remnant and finish His work on earth. Think about it: God never had a huge army. The Old Testament is full of stories; the armies of the children of Israel were small according to the multitude of their enemies. God used His angels to make up the difference, and He will do it again through the prayers of the saints.

For instance, one of the greatest promises Jesus gave before He went back to heaven was that He would come to us and be in us and send the gift of the Holy Spirit, who would be God living in our spirit. And this Holy Spirit in us would teach us all things, giving revelation and enlightenment of Scripture, as well as the understanding of all that Jesus taught while on earth. Here are Jesus’ own words, and our free will and action is what opens the doors of heaven for God to bless us:

    1. Ask;

    2. Keep His commandments;

    3. Believe;

    4. Pray;

    5. And receive.

Receiving God’s gifts takes action on our part. It has never been all up to God, as many teach!

Think about it: after Adam and Eve pushed God’s Spirit away, the Holy Spirit was not joined to mankind again until the Day of Pentecost, sent back to earth after Jesus ascended back to heaven. Moses and Elisha didn’t have the Holy Spirit in them, so God used the natural to show and teach the coming spiritual. Moses’s staff and Elisha’s rolled-up mantel were illustrations of God’s power and anointing. When they struck the water, it parted. They had to use their free will to obey and then act, and so do we!

Even if we are filled with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, God doesn’t do much on this earth solitarily without working through you and me, and neither do we work solitarily without the anointing of His Spirit inside of us! The people we pray for healing, God the Father does the healing, but He uses us to speak through and touches through our faith in Him to do His Work.

Did you know that you and God are a team? And God and I are a team writing these books. In no way could I do this by myself! The following verses show action on our part:

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

    John 14:13–18

You will see this more than once on these pages because that is how important it is.

We serve one God, who works in three ways: God the Father in heaven, God the Son sitting on the throne beside the Spirit of the Father, and God the Holy Spirit who lives in our spirit at the time we believe and receive Him as Lord and Savior. There is power in one God, one Lord, and one Savior! Did you know that the fallen angels or demons tremble at the thought of one God? Isn’t it because they were with God for eternity backward and know that Jesus was God’s Word who created and spoke everything that was made, including them, and gave them their names? They also know that God’s plan has been to put His power in each of us, and they are going to be defeated in this last day through our prayers and the assistance of God’s warrior angels. Amen! Jesus said:

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble (James 2:19).

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you (John 14:20). (What day? The Day of Pentecost. ).

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26).

This means that the Holy Spirit will enlighten us with revelations of the words Jesus taught. But we must first receive God into our spirit through believing on Jesus Christ as our Savior in order to give God the opportunity to teach us His Word by His Spirit.

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

    1 John 2:27

The carnal mind or natural mind of man’s reasoning cannot understand God’s Word. It is only spiritually discerned:

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

    1 Corinthians 2:11–14

It is evident that some of the teachers in Bible institutes have not had the experience of salvation by the Spirit of God nor the baptism infilling of the Spirit to reveal truth to them, or they wouldn’t have influenced the Christian students to doubt their core faith.
