The black dragon Onyx guarding her treasure hoard in the ruins of Xak Tsaroth. Painted in acrylics for the D&D 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide!
Really happy I was given one of the new black dragons, this design is SO much fun to draw and paint! It's so pointy and slithery and skeletal, properly grim looking guys. All in all very pleased both with the assignment and the result!

This looks so good! It's almost Xenomorph-like with the spines you rendered here, which I can imagine was a painstaking amount of time.
Holy SHIT my jaw dropped when I saw this!
It's GORGEOUS!!!

You got one of the few newer designs i liked. and you did a fantastic job with it! excellent work and they certainly chose well!
I love how new design looks
It looks more sinister, more dead and more scary
Just like the dragon that feeds from misery, death and carcasses of old long gone civilizations
And the place you drew for his lair feels even more fitting to the dragon that enjoys to see the ruins of nations
Amazing stuff!

Thanks so much! I agree the new black dragon looks more skeletal and slithery than the old one which I think is rather fitting too!
This is amazing and it reminds me of Adrian Smith's official Warhammer art. I wonder if it's because acrylics were used as a medium
gorgeous work
I don't mean to break it to him but I'm pretty sure that clock is carved in stone ... you should check that pizza you put in the oven a century ago :P

Oh wow. That is *fabulous*. Love those details, and this is my very favorite of the chromatic dragons, too.
I just absolutely love that you painted this in Acrylic! Just really captures the feel of some of the classic fantasy painters over the years such as Paul Bonner or Adrian Smith while still really showing your own artistic styling!
Thank you so much, I’ve really been enjoying the medium myself!
this is incredible! the colors, the composition, the dragon design... love it!!!
Dragonlance art! Nice. Been a long time since I read those.
Looks absolutely gorgeous! I'll say that this made the new Black Dragon design grow on me more :)
Thank you! I have my reservations about some of the redesigns, but I think the black one is quite good! It wasn’t hard to make her look cool ^^
This is very beautiful. I adore the texture the painting has, interesting touch.
Oh, also, Wifey 🤩 what a gorgeous dragon

Oh, I knew this looked familiar! Such a cool piece, and the new black dragon design really looks really good.
In general, I like what they did with most of the dragons - the one exception would be blue, since I personally think they strayed too far from the original looks, and that horn just looks too fragile.
But back on topic, this is a really amazing picture and in addition to the dragon I love the little details of the magic items in the hoard being accurate to their designs!

Fantastic! LOVE all those spikes along the back.
SHE WILL BROOK NO TRESSPASSERS. :)

I love the new design. Nice touch with the Bag of Holding, Staff of the Magi, and other named magic items! I love it when artists or writers include that sort of thing, like how I could identify most of Raistlin's spells based on descriptions.
I look forward to adding your art to the Forgotten Realms wiki once the book releases, assuming no-one else beats me to it.

Khisanth, my beloved! I honestly have her name on my high school ring because I was *such* a dork.
'The Black Wing' is definitely one of my favorite books.
Still not a huge fan of the 2024 redesign on black dragons for the skull and all, but this is phenomenal work on one of my favorite characters in fantasy. <3

It's honestly crazy impressive how you can jump between traditional and digital, and retain the immaculate detail levels. The lighting and crispness of all those scutes and bumps. Mad skill.
Stunning work! I absolutely love your version of a D&D black dragon! The Giger-esque spikes, spines, and tail are so good! I would not want to be bumping into her during a delve.
Huge congratulations on being included in the updated DMG!

I was thrilled when I saw the new design of the black dragon. I need the mini for my collection!
Congrats on getting hired to do this piece for the new book! Stunning work!

Very professional work! Also, it's nice to see someone who remember Onyx also known as Khisanth. She's one of my favourite dragons of the Dragonlance series. BTW there is the book in the series about her adventures/misadventures, called The Black Wing. :)
Oh I read these books just last year actually. Man, your work is just incredible!! Always a joy to see it!
