macy S.C. wrote: "Look! I found the antisemite!!" being against israel is not the same as being antisemetic! hope this helps!

Mathilda Get a personality

message 4: by Rawan (new)

Rawan Everything to those who support genocide and apartheid is antisemitic apparently! And I agree this book was ruined by the mentioning of isnotreal it was so unnecessary

Maya ★ literally same, i didn’t even finish the book yet but im so turned off and haven’t even been picking it up to finish, so unnecessary and definitely a choice

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

same. my copy is now flat on the bed. i agree with maya, it definitely is a choice. could’ve been from ANYWHERE else. now i don’t want to continue reading

Rania · رانية haven’t read the book but seems very plausible to do that LOL

Yoana Exactly! Mentioning isnotreal gave nothing to the plot, absolutely useless information, which made its mentioning even worse

Reham i was looking for this because i no longer feel like picking it up anymore. couldve used any country but had to show who she is in solidarity with i suppose

message 10: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn So are you upset because an Israeli was mentioned or are you upset with how the author depicted them in her writing?

Emily Says a lot about you

message 12: by tripeira (new)

tripeira lagarta Wtf is wrong with you??

Anneli which page was that?

message 15: by Lily's Libros (new)

Lily's Libros What upset you? Just because he was Israeli? Because as a passionate activist for the Palestinian cause, I can promise you that there are plenty of good Israelis out there, believe it or not. That's like saying all Americans are evil because * insert any political topic you'd like here *

macy Lily wrote: "What upset you? Just because he was Israeli? Because as a passionate activist for the Palestinian cause, I can promise you that there are plenty of good Israelis out there, believe it or not. That'..."

there was absolutely no reason for her to make a conscious decision to make this very minor character, who is in the book for about 2 lines, israeli. it adds nothing to the story and is completely irrelevant. when you combine this with the fact that the author has been neutral on the genocide in Palestine, this reveals to me what her true beliefs are

Elizabeth Tuttle I didn't notice the Israeli bit, but the author has a VERY weird inclusion of race in half-assed ways (the Indian wife, the Russian trainer) - those characters were all insanely one-dimensional, which tells me all I need to know about her attempts at diversity.

message 18: by Lolita (new)

Lolita speak your truth. as per the comments about good isr*elis i've yet to understand how good people can settle on stolen land. can cheer and watch bombs falling like they're fireworks. can abuse palestinians daily, yes the CIVILIANS are a part of all of it. anyways thanks for this review macy, i wont be purchasing this book.

Turfa I agree

message 20: by Efrat (new)

Efrat Cohen You're not against Israel, you're against the existence of Israeli people if it bothered you an Israeli man is mentioned in the book.

message 21: by Zoe (new)

Zoe this is some crazy xenophobia right here, i thought it was bad to dislike people based on where they're from?

message 22: by Bek (new)

Bek M I’ve never seen a more racist review on goodreads

message 23: by Bek (new)

Bek M I guess we know what side you would’ve been on 85 years ago

reem Bek wrote: "I’ve never seen a more racist review on goodreads"

oh please dont be stupid. being against a genocide now...would mean that this user would have been against what happened years ago. do us a favour and dont pick up a book if you lack this much critical thinking.

Emily Thompson This is the dumbest reason i can imagine to dislike a book, the mention of an israeli person is little one minute detail. Maybe you just dislike that israeli people exist…

message 26: by Lea (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lea Girl … same

Adnan Rahaman Same

Mirjam are you serious??? ahahahah

Erika Lee Such an antisemitic take. Wow.

message 30: by Kat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kat Jacobi Can‘t believe this antisemitic nonesense here

Z S.C. wrote: "Look! I found the antisemite!!"

Aligning all Jewish people with Israel is antisemitic.

message 32: by jake (new)

jake Hating someone because of where they were born, xenophobia has never been so chic!

Corey This comment is crazy.

message 34: by Dakota (new) - added it

Dakota This is depressingly antisemitic. Imagine switching this for any other religion or race.

message 35: by Ida (new) - added it

Ida B I’m pretty sure this one Israeli person is not responsible for decisions made by his government. Hating every single person that ever came from the country is a war in and of itself.

message 36: by Alistair (new)

Alistair North macy wrote: "S.C. wrote: "Look! I found the antisemite!!" being against israel is not the same as being antisemetic! hope this helps!"

It's one individual who happens to be Israeli in a work of fiction, so yeah you are certainly 'antisemetic'.

Patricia Sullivan The hate from this review is horrible. Macy, you are definitely antisemitic.

message 38: by Laura (new)

Laura You’re not antisemitic if you dislike an apartheid country like isra*el

message 39: by Vali (new) - rated it 4 stars

Vali ?????just because the government from Israel is horrible it doesn’t mean everyone in Israel is a bad perdón wtf

Stephanie JSYK, Laura, Israel is FAR from an apartheid state. Do 3 seconds of research and you’ll see that over 2M Arabs live there (Muslim and Christian Arabs), tons of LGBTQ+ identifying individuals, and people of all colors/races are welcome there. Not so in the other ME countries where few if NO Jews reside as they were pushed out. In fact, the Arab population's growth rate is 2.2%, while the Jewish population's growth rate is 1.8%. Macy is 100% an antisemite.

Carolyn This is insane

message 42: by Sam (new) - rated it 5 stars
