Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s marriage is officially over, as the pop star has filed for divorce.
The filing took place today, per documents obtained by TMZ, with Grande citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the dissolution of the marriage.
The outlet reported that Gomez filed his own divorce petition at nearly the same time.
News first broke of the couple’s split in July, and sources close to them soon revealed that they had been separated since January.
Though the couple allegedly attempted to reconcile “a few months back,” a source told TMZ in July that Grande and Gomez’s relationship was “heading for divorce.” The outlet noted at the time that the singer and the real estate mogul had been thousands of miles apart from each other since the Grammy winner left to film Wicked in December, but that their relationship issues had started long before.
An insider for Entertainment Tonight also gave some insight on the split. “Ariana and Dalton’s friends have always been concerned by their whirlwind romance and felt their relationship would ultimately be short-lived,” the source said. “Their relationship has been rocky at different points, and they've had trouble making time for each other with scheduling issues.”
Grande and Gomez first began dating in January 2020, and their relationship quickly got serious when they quarantined together during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2021, they officially tied the knot in a “tiny and intimate” ceremony held at Grande’s house.
