Oszkár Gerde (July 8, 1883 – October 8, 1944) was a two-time Olympic champion Hungarian fencer.
Biography
Dr. Oszkár Gerde, who was Jewish, was born July 8, 1883, in Budapest, Hungary.[1][2][3][4] He was affiliated with MAC, in Budapest.[2] Subsequently, he judged international fencing competitions.[3]
He won two gold medals at the Olympics, in 1908 and 1912 winning the team sabre with the Hungarian team.[2][3][4]
He was deported from Hungary in 1944 and was killed October 8, 1944, at the age of 61 in Mauthausen-Gusen Concentration Camp, Oberösterreich, Austria.[1][2][3]
