Do you hear what I hear? “Home Alone” is among the 25 movies just added to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry. I’m not afraid to say this holiday comedy is among my all-time favorite movies. Here’s why: 💖 The nostalgia. My parents split up in 1990, and seeing “Home Alone” in the theater was one of the first things my dad and I did together one-on-one after that transition. It’s an enduring memory for me. ✍ The premise. The “Home Alone” story is a pitch-perfect blend of physical comedy, situational comedy, and heart. While I didn’t exactly identify with Kevin McAllister, my three younger brothers certainly did. I’d venture to say the movie resonates with anyone who comes from a large, boisterous, hectic family. 🎶 The soundtrack. It’s one of the first CDs I ever owned. “Somewhere in My Memory” gets me every time. 🎥 The longevity. More than 30 years later, my young family continues to enjoy “Home Alone” on a regular basis, with lots of laughs and even a few tears. I know we’re not alone – which is exactly why it has earned this distinction. Isn’t it amazing, how a film – and even a headline – can evoke so many feelings, so many memories? I’ll post a link to the full list of 2023 additions to the National Film Registry in the comments. Which strikes a chord with you? #storytelling #nonprofitconsulting #impactcommunications
