1969 (1988) is a war drama written and directed by Ernest Thompson and starring Robert Downey Jr.,Kiefer Sutherland and Bruce Dern. Downey and Sutherland play Ralph and Scott, best friends and college roommates who leave their small town after Scott’s brother joins the army and is sent to Vietnam. Scott has a difficult relationship with his dad due to his and Ralph's feelings about the war. Ralph's sister Beth (Winona Ryder) protests the war in the valedictory speech at her high school graduation, and Ralph goes to jail for breaking into the draft office before they learn that Scott’s brother has died in combat.
Skin-wise, Robert Downey Jr, stands on stage talking into a microphone. He strips down until he is only wearing a tie and underwear, then everyone chases him around the auditorium.
