Disney World is among the world's best places to spend NYE — Here's how to visit from Canada

It recently ranked among the top ten places in the world to ring in the new year! 🎉

Fireworks burst above a brightly lit castle with Christmas decorations, featuring Santa in his sleigh, reindeer, and costumed characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

If your New Year's resolution for 2025 is to let a little more magic into your life, look no further! Walt Disney World was just ranked among the best places in the world to spend New Year's Eve, and it's one of the only spots on the list that's not a long-haul flight from Canada.

Earlier this month, Condé Nast Traveller released a new ranking of the top spots on Earth to ring in the new year, and Walt Disney World was listed among the top 10 alongside iconic NYE destinations like New York City, Sydney, London, Paris and Tokyo.

And, although Quebec City did get a mention on the list, Disney World was one of the few destinations Canadians are able to visit without a lengthy flight and a serious long-haul travel budget.

Explaining its choices, Condé Nast Traveller gushed that every day at Disney World feels like a celebration thanks to the daily parades, jaw-dropping live shows, glittering fireworks, and all-around magic.

However, even Disney World gets a fairy godmother-level glow-up for December 31.

Over at EPCOT, for example, they're throwing a global bash with mini-NYE celebrations in each country's pavilion. You can count down to midnight in the U.K. at 7 p.m. Eastern time, spot the "Eiffel Tower" in France as you count down, or grab a margarita in Mexico because—well, it's New Year's Eve.

Meanwhile, Magic Kingdom has dance parties popping up everywhere and not one but TWO fireworks shows over Cinderella's Castle—one at 6:30 p.m. and another at midnight.

At Hollywood Studios, you can expect a Hollywood-level party with spinning beats in front of the Chinese Theatre.

Animal Kingdom keeps things chill (there are real-life animals there, so things are a little quieter), closing earlier for those who want to ring in the new year with fewer late-night fireworks and more furry faces.

Of course, all the while, Disney World is fully decked out for the holidays. Magic Kingdom's main street is lined with garlands, wreaths, and sparkling holiday decor, while tens of thousands of sparkling lights cover the buildings leading up to the castle.

You'll also be able to spot characters in their seasonal best, hear holiday tunes throughout the parks, and see holiday-inspired parades, shows, and fireworks displays.

The exact park opening hours for NYE are yet to be confirmed, so keep an eye out for any changes or updates over the coming days and weeks!

Of course, this level of wonder and magic doesn't come cheap. Although Canadian residents can now get up to 33% off hotels, park tickets and more (just for being Canadian!), these offers don't apply on New Year's Eve.

However, these discounts do apply on select dates between November 10 and December 14, so if you want to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse rocking their holiday best on a smaller budget, that’s still possible—you'll just have to skip December 31!

The holiday decorations and festivities are already in full swing at Disney World and will stick around until early January, so there's flexibility there if you need it.

Flights from Montreal, Toronto, or Ottawa to Orlando can go as low as $144 one-way on select dates in November and December, but as NYE approaches, those prices increase pretty significantly.

Of course, spending New Year's Eve in "the most magical place on Earth" is always going to require a shiny budget. After all, all of that magic can't come cheap!
