Toronto's dazzling New Year's Eve fireworks will light up the sky and here's what to know

Say goodbye to 2024! You can ring in the new year with the City of Toronto's enchanting fireworks show. The dazzling event is taking place on December 31, 2024, and here's what to know if you're planning on attending.
The City is hosting a 10-minute New Year's Eve fireworks display synchronized to music that will illuminate Toronto's inner harbour at midnight. According to the City, it's one of the largest shows in Canada, and it's a magical way to welcome 2025.
The celebrations begin at 10 p.m. with fireworks at midnight. While the show is visible from anywhere with a view of Toronto's inner harbour, here are some designated viewing areas where you can see the sky light up:
- Toronto Music Garden, 476 Queens Quay W.
- Sherbourne Common, 61 Dockside Dr.
- Sugar Beach Park, 11 Dockside Dr.
- HTO Park, 339 Queens Quay W.
- HTO Park West, 375 Queens Quay W.
- Harbour Square Park, 25 Queens Quay W.
- Harbourfront Centre, 235 Queens Quay W.
The Toronto Music Garden and Sherbourne Common are hosting pop-up performances and activities such as short films and dance lessons prior to the fireworks show.
You can enjoy free TTC, GO Transit and UP Express service on New Year’s Eve from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m.
If you're planning on driving, here are the road closures that will be in effect from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.:
- Eastbound traffic on Queens Quay West
- Bay Street from Front Street to Queens Quay West
- York Street from Front Street to Queens Quay West
You can also head to the Distillery Winter Village for a fireworks display and other activities, but don't forget to grab tickets first.
