Richard T. Jameson Film Comment Magazine Kubrick's final film is unique in his oeuvre for concluding on a note of apparent affirmation. Apr 10, 2018 Full Review Kenneth Turan Los Angeles Times This is finally a film that is better at mood than substance, that has its strongest hold on you when it's making the least amount of sense. Dec 14, 2014 Full Review Stephen Hunter Washington Post It's empty of ideas, which is fine, but it's also empty of heat. Dec 14, 2014 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Eyes Wide Shut is Kubrick doing Kubrick but it's not quite a masterpiece compared to earlier works, nor is it an erotic thriller. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 16, 2024 Full Review Trace Thurman Horror Queers Podcast A fascinating look at obsession and desire that only Kubrick could craft. Rated: 4/5 Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast Kubrick's final opus is a chilly sexual odyssey featuring two stunning confessional scenes by Nicole Kidman. Cruise is game to be the butt of the joke as the protagonist who wants sex but never has it. Gorgeous, moody, and a perfect final line of dialogue Rated: 4.5/5 Jul 10, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Mason M By far, Kubrick's most grand, self indulgent, and his most "Kubrick" film. Eyes Wide Shut's main strength is it's impeccable world building, forming a New York that's driven by sexual depravity. This may also be the director's most beautiful film visually. Eyes Wide Shut is an interesting look into the scum of society, forming a riveting thriller that keeps you entertained for it's two hour and forty minute runtime. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Milox B « Eyes Wide Shut » met l’accent sur les costumes, les couleurs et la musique angoissante, mais je reproche au film de manquer de profondeur narrative. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/19/24 Full Review Robert V Masterpiece. Visually stunning. Breathtaking . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/19/24 Full Review Audience Member The Easter eggs in this movie make it a masterpiece. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/19/24 Full Review Vladan A They overkilled it with nudity. It basically becomes a sick p*rn at a moment and doesn't really bring anything to the plot. The whole story is pretty bland besides that. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/28/24 Full Review Yash B Until the very end of his life, Stanley Kubrick pushed boundaries with filmmaking as an art form. "Eyes Wide Shut" is the final film he made and it is complex and thought-provoking as is his entire filmography. I think this film features many long sequences that are drawn out but engaging. I think Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman are both great in this and I found myself wondering where the movie would go next at every turn. I did feel the last section of this movie did drag a bit for me with its slow pace, but I still think it is a very well-made film with plenty of interesting ideas. Overall, it is a wild ride with many unbelievable moments and I think is a solid final outing for Kubrick, even though I wouldn't personally call it one of the acclaimed director's very best films.
