UNITS OF MEASURE USED IN GUATEMALA
In Guatemala use the metric system. Takes its name from its unit of length, the meter.
Kilometer: For measure large distances, we use the kilometer, is written: (km). One kilometer has 1000 meters.
The meter: For measure big objects or small distances, we use the meter, is written: (m). A meter has 100 centimeters.
The centimeter: For measure small objects or small distances, we do it in centimeters, 100 centimeters make 1 meter.
Inch: For measure small objects or small distances, we use the Inch, is written: (in). An inch has 2.54 centimeters.
Yard: The yard is the unit of length used in fabric sales of Guatemala, is written: (yd). A yard has 0.9144 meters.
CAPACITY MEASURES The capacity measures are used to measure the amount of liquid content of a container.
Gallon: A gallon is the unit of measure of capacity, containing 4.25 liters, is written: (Gal).
Liter: The liter is the main unit of capacity, is written: (L) the liter has four glasses 250ml.
WEIGHT MEASUREMENTS The weight measurements are used to measure the mass or amount of material contained in a body.
Quintal: The quintal contains 4 kilos or 100 pounds, is written: (q).
Pound: The pound has 16 ounces, is written: (lb).
Ounce: The ounce contains 38.35 grams, is written: (oz).
Gram: A gram is equal to 1000 milligrams, is written: (gr).
Kilogram: Recently is began using the kilograms in Guatemala. A kilogram has 1000 grams. That is 2.20 pounds, is written: (kg).
INTRODUCTION
In this work will speak about units of measure used in Guatemala. In Guatemala is rarely used the international system, but it's more used the metric system, because its the unification and rationalization of measurement units and their multiples. Since this is divided in length, capacity, weight, volume, surface and time. The metric system is based on the meter as a unit and its tenfold multiples and submultiples or decimal divided by ten.
OBJECTIVES
One of the objectives is to learn about the units of measurement used in Guatemala.
Know which are the rules that apply to each measurement system.
Know which are the most useful measures in our country.
Know abbreviations for the different measurement systems.
CONCLUTIONS
Is very important know the different kinds of measures in each country, because each country has different rules about of measures used daily.
The metric system is one of the most used systems in the world and is used most often in Guatemala because of many measures that are coupled to different activities in Guatemala.
