Metric System Investigation
1. Metric system
The metric system is a system of measurement that uses the meter, liter, and gram as
base units of length (distance), capacity (volume), and weight (mass) respectively. To
measure smaller or larger quantities, we use units derived from the metric units.
2. Units for the metric system for length, mass and capacity
Length
Millimeters, centimeters, meters, and kilometers.
Mass
Gram (g), kilogram (kg) and tonne (t).
Capacity
Liters, centiliter, milliliters and kiloliters.
3. English system
A system of weights and measures based on the foot and pound and second and pint.
4. Units for the English system for length, mass and capacity
Length
Inch, foot, yard, and mile.
Mass
Pound, ounce, pennyweight, slug.
Capacity
Fluid ounce, cup, pint, quart, and gallon.
5. Convertion of units
Conversion of units is the conversion between different units of measurement for the
same quantity, typically through multiplicative conversion factors which change the
measured quantity value without changing its effects.
6. Units of measure that are use in Honduras that are not in the metric or
English system
Geme, cuarta, brazada, vara cuadrada,
