To Whom It May Concern: It is with great pleasure I write this letter of recommendation for Scott Niemann. I have known Scott for nine years and worked with Scott for five years in my position as Director of Human Resources and Assessment and Assistant Superintendent. I have had the opportunity to work with Scott in both the areas of personnel and curriculum and instruction. During Scotts superintendent internship he worked with me as Director of Human Resources. During his superintendent internship, he was involved in our Districts School Board Policy and Procedure review. Scott has served as a key leader in the development of the districts strategic plan. Scot t was also very active in the writing the Districts Gates Early Learning, College Spark, and GEAR UP Grants. As a leader of our largest K8 elementary school, Scott oversees approximately 80 staff members. Scott has been involved in the hiring of both certificated and classified staff during his time at Burlington-Edison School District. Scott is very meticulous in the hiring of his staff members and does an exceptional job in the hiring process. Part of Scotts current responsibilities as a building principal is to ensure that both collective bargaining agreements (B-EEA and PSE) are properly enforced and implemented. Currently, Mr. Niemann is part of our district leadership negotiations team. Scott is an integral part of our district team. It should also be noted that Mr. Niemann was instrumental in placing a veteran teacher on a plan of improvement. Scott worked closely with me as Director of Human Resources and the WEA Field Representative in this process. Scott always maintained a very professional manner while working with the staff member and association officials. As a building level administrator, Scott has had many opportunities and experiences with curriculum. Scott has championed the concept of continuous improvement. He is in constant communication with District Office administration to make sure the building plan aligns with district goals. Mr. Niemann understands that curriculum decisions are made based on student achievement data. Scott and his leadership team attended the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) training given by Rick DuFour. Scott understands the PLC model and has been working with his teachers to create a building culture of collaboration. Building wide PLC time has been created for teachers to collaborate using student work and assessment results. Under Scotts leadership and direction, teachers are reviewing student work and common assessment data. I recommend Mr. Niemann for a central office administrative position. He is a team player and values the input of all stakeholders. In my opinion, Scott has shown through his leadership experiences that he will be successful in a central office administrative position. Sincerely,
