Learning Area: science and geography. Strand/topic from the Australian Curriculum: Science- Earth and space sciences: Sudden geological changes or extreme weather conditions can affect Earths surface. (ACSSU096). Geography- geographical knowledge and understanding: Impact of bushfires of floods on environments and communities, and how people can respond. (ACHGK030).

Time 0mins Motivation and Introduction: 1. Students are immediately sent to the computer lab where they review their plan for their documentary. 2. The teacher hands an Ipad to the camera man in each group. 3. The teacher than demonstrates on the smart board how to use the application iMovie on the Ipads. 4. The spokesman of each group than comes to the front and stands around the teacher who stands with a covered box. 5. The teacher than reveals the contents of the box to the students which is the costumes. The spokesmen than pick their costumes. Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions): 6. Students are instructed to print their Powerpoint Presentation for reference throughout the filming of the documentary. 7. The spokesman of each group is instructed to practice their script a couple of times. 8. Once the students are confident with their lines and roles, they are dismissed from the classroom and allowed to go outside to film their documentary, prior to doing so, the teacher informs the students to return to the classroom once they have completed their filming. 9. Throughout the filming the editor is encouraged to act as the directoryell ACTION and CUT, and provide feedback to the spokesman and the camera man. 10. While the students are filming their documentaries the teacher should observe the students behaviours, mainly focusing on how they work as a team and how they perform their roles. 11. Once students return to the classroom, there will be a message on the whiteboard instructing the editor to edit their documentary and then fill out the form at the front of the room. The form will have the Ipad number and will require students to fill out the names of their group members next to their groups Ipad number. Lesson Closure. 12. Once all students have completed their documentary, they are instructed to return their costumes and place their Ipads at the front of the room but to keep their documentary open. 13. The students are then instructed to go onto their KidsBlog account and reflect on the task they just completed. The students are instructed to include the positives and the negatives of the task, and Resources/References KidsBlog. Computers. Smart board/ interactive whiteboard. Ipads. iMovie application. Once the students have finished their reflection, the teacher selects three Ipads and shows the class the documentaries that were developed on the Ipads via plugging them into the smartboard.
