Wedding (l to r) Allan Murray?, Lyle McCann, Maxine McCann, Marie McCann [Waltz], Lydia Waltz
Lyle (born August 26, 1 931 ) and Marie (born October 1 5, 1 932) were born and raised in the Red Deer, Alberta
region. They grew up on farms in the area.
They both came from large families. Lyle - 3 brothers (Grant, Jack, Clifford) and 2 sisters (Maxine, Lois). Marie
- 2 brothers (Victor, Don) and 4 Sisters (Alvina, Alice, Lydia, Verna).
Lyle and Marie were married in 1 952, and moved to Edmonton in the late 1 950s. They resided in St Albert
since 1 964. They had 3 children - Bret , Lance, and Trudy. Bret & Mary Ann have 2 children Bret Jr (Selina)
and Nicole (Casey Walshe). Lance & Irene have 2 children Russell and Mika. Trudy has 1 daughter
Morgan. Bret Jr and Selina have a son Benson, who is Lyle and Maries first great grandchild. Nicole and
Casey have two daughters - Chantelle and Juliette, who are Lyle and Marie's second and third great
grandchildren.
Lyle was a long-haul trucker for most of his working career regularly travelling to points in Alberta, British
Columbia and the rest of North America. Marie was a stay-at-home mother.
Lyle retired from trucking in his early 70s. While elderly, both Lyle and Marie were in good health, and very
active. They maintained a beautiful yard and garden at their St Albert home.
Here is a video of the 42 Gladstone yard made in June, 2007.
Lyle & Marie loved travelling with their motor home. For many winters, they would travel to the United States for
several months. In summer months, they would take weekend trips to points within Alberta. They particularly
loved to fish at Ghost Lake, a favorite campground near Athabasca.
