Dear Parents,
Please make sure to look in InfoDirect for ideas of at-home activities that can be used to reinforce new concepts that
are discussed! Also please review letters, numbers, and Bible verses with them each week. If you have any questions,
please do not hesitate to ask!!
Star Students:
Week of 11/03/2014: Bridget Sicley
Week of 11/10/2014: Hunter Bunch
*We will start over with star students in November, so please watch for your childs name again!
Star Student Reminders: Please bring pictures and a few items that your child likes that he or she can show his or her friends.
On Friday, please have your child bring a small treat for each of the 12 students in the class. There are 6 girls and 6 boys.
Phonics:
Letters: Yy: Y says y in yarn; Y says y, y, y.

Pp: P says p in pig; P says p, p, p.

Phonetic Blends: (all short vowel sounds) W, Y, P


Sight Words: reviewing learned sight words
Beginning Reading: continuing to work on making words/sentences and choosing the correct word/sentence for a picture.
**There will be a written evaluation on TUESDAY.
Handwriting: reviewing all letters, learning Yy, Pp, and Y blends
*There will be an Extra Practice writing sheet sent home on Monday. Please complete this with your child and return it on
Tuesday. Please make sure that your child takes his or her time to write neatly and do his or her best!
*There will be a handwriting test on THURSDAY.
Bible:
Lessons: A Bride for Isaac, Sold for a Bowl of Soup, and The Blessing: By Hook or By Crook
Memory Verse: Keep thy tongue from evil. Psalm 34:13
Oral Test: Friday, November 7, 2014 (recite both verse and reference)
Bible Treasure: The Lords Prayer Matthew 6:9-13 (does not have to be memorized at this point)
Math:
Counting: 0-69
Concepts: forties family (40-49), fifties family (50-59), adding 1 to numbers, plus + , equals =
Writing:
**There will be a written and oral evaluation on TUESDAY.
Social Studies: America Our Great Country- Hawaii, American Territories, Symbols of Our Country

Science: Mad Scientist Experiment: Hunter Bunch Zoo animals and Monkeys

1) Thank you all for all of your help and participation with the Fall Festival activities. The students loved winning both
Princess and Queen throughout the competition! They also seemed to enjoy the other activities on Friday.
2) Coats and Jackets: Please make sure to refer to the dress code in the handbook regarding coats and jackets. There
have been a couple jackets worn that do not meet the dress code standards.
