Identification of birds, plants, and aquatic invertebrates
Trained by Paula Grieef at identifying songbirds, waterfowl, and birds of prey that visit Oak Hammock Marsh.
Educated public about numerous bird species.
Watched numerous bird banding workshops by Paula Grieef and handled the songbirds.
Completed the Vascular Plants of Manitoba course at U of M
Identified and marked the plant species at Oak Hammock (using keys)
Environmental Knowledge
Conducted wildlife surveys and point counts for various species of birds, fish, amphibians, and insects.
Educated in environmental issues, botany, mycology, ecology, chordates, sustainability, etc.
Project Management and Organization
Planned and executed three environment education camps: One of them a three-day overnight wetland
adventure camp.
Managed the identification and marking of plants at Oak Hammock Marsh (summer 2014).
Managed the vermicomposter worms at Oak Hammock Marsh (summer 2014).
Direct/manage Kids in Kilts School of Highland Dance, a small business that relies on diligent organization, timemanagement, and detailed record keeping (including finances).
Organized numerous volunteer groups for events such as Relay for Life and Kids in Kilts related events.
Created the Squeaky Clean Green Team Spring Cleanup which involved promoting the event, gathering
volunteers, and providing volunteers with necessary tools.
Research and Critical Thinking
Experienced in taking field notes (Vascular Flora of Manitoba course).
Experienced in collecting, compiling, and analyzing information (Lichens and Bryophytes course and Principles of
Ecology course).
