Module 7 SIP Analysis and Discussion
The mission of the school states, Woodstock High School is to prepare our students to learn from the past, apply to the present, and prepare for the future.. Woodstock high school opened in 1996 and is a Cherokee County School, in order to benefit from the STEM curriculum for next year, students target areas for improvement in all core subjects and STEM integration. The school developed 2 goals related to their areas of improvement:
1. In all subject areas, no more than 20% of questions on major
assessments will be below Depth of Knowledge (DOK) level 2. 2. All subject areas will have multiple writing opportunities in ongoing classroom assessments or at least one major writing assignment per quarter. Technology is included in the SIP as a means to provide remediation, practice, and technological access for students with disabilities. Although 91% of respondents rated in a survey about Facilities and Technology, this is the only characteristic to decrease from both 2013 results and 2012 results. The professional development focus on programs that:

Support the improvement of the performance of students, staff,
and
the
organization
through
results-driven
professional
development, which is standards-based, job embedded, and
collaborative, i.e., Georgia Student Performance Standards and Georgia Milestones. Provide all users with access to current information and resources that will increase student achievement as well as empower collaborative learning, problem solving, creativity, innovation, and informed decision making. Provide professional learning opportunities for all staff which will support students' academic needs through the integration of technology in standards-based lessons. Support a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as well as Fine Arts reflected across the curriculum in select District Academies. Expand effective use of instructional technology into all CCSD classrooms through professional development programs such as Teach 21, STEM 21, and Bring Your Own Learning Device (BYLD), thereby equipping teachers and administrators with the skills and knowledge needed to work and lead in a 21st Century standardsbased classroom/school model for teaching and learning. Provide training for appropriate employees to support the implementation of Race to the Top initiatives, i.e. Teacher Keys

Evaluation System (TKES), Leader Keys Evaluation System (LKES)
and Georgia Student Performance Standards.
I am pleased with the amount of technology discussed throughout
the SIP, but I would like to see more technology focused around the ISTE standards and less around STEM. The technology we are acquiring and integrating for our classes will be used more in the core classes than in other subjects that support the STEM program. I would like to see more technology invested in other areas like world languages. Several ISTE standards can address within the STEM curriculum and that would make the SIP much more beneficial for students in general.
More differentiation and support in our SES students and students of
different geographical areas is needed, and needs to be clear the tech plan for the future years as how are we going to bring the technology to each one of those students in need.
I believe that the committees who are working for the use of more technology in the classes can develop a program to achieve our mission. It can integrate the ISTE standards plus the STEM program for

next year. This year the Instructional Technology Specialist assigned to
our school is supporting our programs and looking for more apps or devices to motivate students towards a successful STEM program. However, this worries me since the Instructional Technology Specialist has changed and the new person has 4 schools to visit and support.
Cherokee County School District has a Three-Year Technology Plan
which is not discussed in detail in the SIP. There is a list of hardware and software needed to achieve the goals. The Cherokee plan will guide the district from 2014-2017. Some members of the school community know about the plan and where to find it. It would be a good idea to have the plan detailed for WHS instead for the whole county. We hope that after the STEM program is in place, we have a detail plan just for our school.
