Mehemea ka moemoea ahau, ko ahau anake; Mehemea ka moemoea a tatou, ka taea e tatou
When I dream, I dream alone; When we dream together, we achieve together

Tn koutou katoa,
This week a team of 2016 New Entrant/Year One staff travelled to
Whangarei and Auckland to visit schools who have been working
on how they provide for exploratory learning experiences during
this stage of a childs development. I really believe that these
philosophies are better meeting the developmental and holistic
learning needs of children during this time. Features of the learning
were children engaged in a range of tactile discoveries, play that was
deliberately prompted and facilitated by the teacher, and learners
planning their own discovery projects and having a choice and a voice
in what they would do each day. We are looking forward to exploring
these philosophies further and creating an approach unique to Kerikeri
Primary School and the needs of our new learners whilst still meeting
the requirements of the New Zealand Primary Curriculum
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Amber Parrish to
teach in our 3rd bi-lingual classroom in 2016. Amber will bring a
range of strengths to the school and we look forward to welcoming her
to the team.
Our Education Review Office visit has been postponed until the
end of Term 1, 2016.
You will see opposite a draft of the graphic representation of our
Vision. The koru represent the nurturing and development of our
children before the unfurling into the mangopare that symbolises
perpetual motion and ongoing learning and growth. Our new Mission
of Inspiring Learning is featured across the top.

This documentary is very timely. Education is back on the political

agenda yet again as the Government seeks to review the
Education Act. This has potentially far-reaching consequences for the
system, schools and classrooms our children will learn in. There is a
very limited timeframe for public submissions; they are due by 14th
December. A very short consultation period at a very busy time of year
for schools and communitiesmmm I get a little suspicious of the overall intentions when this is the case! Surely such a big issue is worth
extensive and genuine consultation? Follow this link for more info:

Just imagine a place

Bring togs

and towels

Imagine a place where you can be free to paint your hopes and dreams with multicoloured waves that connect piece by piece to develop your life.

Imagine a night where you can lay down on the shore and the blankets of blue will
warm you and the moon will guard you while the midnight stars kisses you to
sleep.

Imagine a time where you can dance into the calm night air, where the stars and
moon will greet you, and you could leap cloud to cloud from dusk until dawn.

Imagine a place where you can stitch up your life and discard bad memories, until
you have made a masterpiece a dress or bear, but whatever it is, its special.

Imagine a night when the road of your dreams takes you on a journey through
water and sky, up and away into the air, or down below to the sand and shells on
the ocean floor.

Imagine a day when you can bake up cities with cream and flour, drizzle icing
and decorate with sweets, a treat for your heart.

Imagine a night when you could jump out of gravity's grasp and soar with the
stars, over the cities looking down below, a birds eye you will get but only tonight.

Imagine a night when the moon makes a path from light and water that leads you
to a dream. Swiftly over water and past lagoons into a land youve always know
but didnt.

Imagine a place where you can sculpt sand into a loved one that had passed
away, time or death. Each part of sand removed was the beginning of a new life.

Imagine a world when gravity went to sleep, the moon fell down off its perch. And
you could hang upside down in your room without falling.

Imagine a night when emotions changed, afraid was not real and anger was a
myth, sadness left you with only happiness and love so that in the morning and
till night you were joyful and had peace which surpasses understanding.

Imagine a world where flowers grew rapidly, trees grew wildly with blossoms
blooming, and crops grew. Nature was back and peace was among us for there
was no such thing as hatred.

Swimming starts next
