Connie--3x5 cards with titles and then another set of cards with authors challenge box with a variety Students use OPAC to look to see if book is on shelf and then get call number. After student, without a partner, gets the book, they put a tally mark by their name on the tally sheet. After so many, they can do the challenge box. The tally sheet

is the assessment tool. Connie will send any documents. 2. What are you doing with Library Media skills? Brainstorm lessons for all grades for January. Send to high school Diana What do we do with damaged books that we take out of our collection? box them up and send to cartage and hauling Diana yes, I will often let them help me develop the rubrics----they are tougher graders than I am often.....not sure if I will have time this year, but it is a great buy in project Do you do research projects with 1st, 2nd or 3rd--how about a pet one for 3rd grade? They need to have books for class projects...how do you deal with this? 6. Steve is still working with Insignia folks to have OPAC show the call number on one line (and not split between 2 lines)

Working document with access for all lmss--for book titles suitable for literacy standards for example books to use for alliteration, punctuation, etc. Myers has developed one for the past 2 years. 10. Anything else for the good of the order? Volunteer holiday gifts? cute idea from Diana...take a taper candle and hot glue three candy canes with the curved part becoming the support to hold up the candle. Put a ribbon around the top. en Gave donated Roths coffee cards and Trader Joes small candy bar with a card 11. Miscellaneous: Do you let first and second grade check out any book form the nonfiction section ?(is Ripleys and Guinness books?) Diana Second grade does check out from the nonfiction, but they do have some limitations such as Ripleys and the Guinness books as well as some of the more expensive books. First grade do not check out from nonfiction until after January and it is section by section, whichever one has been focused on for that weeks lesson. Starting in January, I intro to 1st grade & review for 2nd grade one major area in NF. One area per month. Guinness and Ripleys are for check out only by 3rd-5th grades (due to maturity level). Since you are all at my house can you each put up one or two holiday decorations for me? (haha) Diana sure! :) 12. Agenda & Date for next meeting: Thursday, January 13th at 3:30 pm at Myers Elem. PLC Collective Commitments for our group General-1. Commitment to coming to every meeting 2. Keep group small to make it more feasible to keep meeting a reasonable length of time. 3. If another member wants to join, group agreement must be reached. 4. Everyone proof reads the minutes prior to submission to Steve and adds pertinent information.

Meetings-1. Show up on time. 2. Start and end meetings on time. 3. At the beginning of the meeting, there will be 10 minutes for open discussion. 4. Email/call if you are unable to come. 5. Rotate secretary. (assigned job) 6. Stay focused and on task. (assigned job) 7. Maintain a positive attitude--no complaining. 8. Fully support each others efforts to improve student learning. 9.
