I - Program Description
Communication University of China (CUC) is one of Chinas key universities of Project 211, directly under the guidance of the State Ministry of Education. There are 13 schools in the university and 2 national key disciplines, e.g., journalism and radio & television arts, 1 national key developable discipline, 4 municipal key disciplines, 4 post-doctoral research centers, 24 doctoral programs, 48 master programs, 5 professional master categories, and 78 bachelor programs. There are 15,307 full-time students in the CUC, including 9,264 undergraduates, 3,512 candidates for doctor and master degrees, and 16,780 students in programs of continuing education.
CUC devotes itself to cultivate advanced and practical talents with multi-subject knowledge and creativity. Since its foundation in 1954, CUC has made great contribution in the field of radio and television, and has gained the fames as the cradle of Chinas radio and television talents and a well-known university in the field of information communication.
Since 2011 fall semester, CUC has been offering the International Master of International Communication (IM.JC-IC) Program, approved by the Ministry of Education of Peoples Republic of China. This one-year program is specifically
designed for students from developing countries with diverse backgrounds, and focuses on blending theoretical course with practical fieldwork. The faculty team consists of well- known professor and specialized lecturer. The language of instruction, examination and thesis writing is English.
II - Program Concentration
Objectives: 1. To systematically study rules of international communication and its influence upon national sovereignty from global and local perspectives; 2. To investigate rational and feasible strategies of international communication in developing countries under the context of globalization; 3. To develop comprehensive intercultural skills and the capacity to work as a media practitioner, administrator and policy maker. Emphasis is laid on applying multidisciplinary perspectives and methodologies to further understand the basic feature of international communication and its social and historical origin, and to investigate the implementation and effects of policies of international communication. Theoretical studies will be closely combined with fieldworks, policy study projects, internships, and related extra-curricular activities. Graduates of this program will be equipped with a strong foundation in theories and research methods, and with necessary competencies for effective international communication.

Program duration Students are expected to complete the program within one school year. Academic year starts from the second week of September and ends at July next year.
Instruction The language of instruction is English. Instructions will take forms of lectures, seminars, case discussions, tutorials and so on.
Courses The IM.JC-IC program consists of two semesters of full-time academic work, with a minimum course requirement of 30 credits to complete the degree, including core courses of 15 credits; optional courses of 12 credits; and media internship of 3 credits. Master Thesis Students are expected to bring specific research questions concerning international communication to the program, as a part of thesis research preparation. Towards the end of the first semester, related faculty members will be invited as potential thesis advisors, and the Institute of Communication Studies at CUC will make arrangement for students to choose their advisors. Thesis is expected to combine theoretical perspectives, analytical skills and practical experiences of educational leadership and policy, and to aim at solving practical problems. Students must pass oral defense of their thesis.
Degree Requirements Students are required to complete course work of 30 credits, master thesis writing and

defense within one school year. With the approval of University Degree Committee, Master Degree of International Communication will be awarded.
Admission Requirements Applicants should be governmental officials at middle level or above, researchers or administrators at middle level or above at academic institutes, or senior managers in media related fields. They should be under 45 years of age and in good health. They should have at least 3 years of working experience. For applicants whose native language is not English, English proficiency should be enough for graduate level courses and thesis writing. Please submit TOEFL or IELTS test score if possible. Application Procedures Complete the Application Form for International Master of International Communication, Communication University of China. Follow the instruction on the Application Form to prepare for other application materials. Fax or scan and email the complete set of application materials to School of International Education, Communication University of China.
Important Dates Application materials will be due on June 30th, 2013. Admission Letters will be issued on July 20th, 2013. Registration date will be in early September, 2013. Exact date is going to be confirmed by Admission Letter.
V - Accommodations
1. Each student is provided with a standard room with private bathroom, TV, telephone and air conditioner. In the dormitory building, there are laundry rooms, micro wave ovens and electric stoves available for public use. 2. Meal cards are available for students to charge and use in canteens on campus.
