Ceiba Foundation for Tropical Conservation
Job type: Part-time (~10 hrs/week) Start Date: Flexible but no later than January 1, 2013 Location: Madison, Wisconsin Job Description: The Ceiba Foundation for Tropical Conservation is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to protecting threatened tropical ecosystems in Ecuador. Ceiba has many ongoing projects ranging from habitat conservation, reserve management and field education programs to rural development and teacher training activities. As the U.S. Administer you would oversee the day-to-day operations in the Madison office, and as a member of the Foundation help reach Ceibas conservation goals through exchanges of ideas, outreach and promotion. Daily activities In the office: Check email and mail and deliver documents to Ceibas accountant or scan and deposit donations and other checks to bank Keep student and donor contact database up to date, as well as lists of universities and other businesses with which we communicate Manage US side of volunteer program by responding to emails, coordinating with Carmen Jtiva (Ceiba Ecuador Administrator) and Gabriela Castillo (Lalo Loor Dry Forest manager) in Ecuador to arrange dates, gather necessary documents and payments, and help prepare volunteer for trip Answer phone calls and pass along any important messages to Joe and Catherine. Be prepared to answer questions about what Ceiba does, programs we offer, and assist parents who have children studying or volunteering in Ecuador Promotion Mid-spring and late summer: send out Tropical Conservation Semester Announcement to numerous universities and departments Early January: send out summer programs announcement Flier campus to promote Ceibas programs to students

Various study abroad and career fairs: gather materials and work the booths Fundraising Plan and coordinate Ceibas annual Tropical Forest Funkraiser (Nov.) - Secure venue and bands - Plan meetings and organize volunteers - Solicit donors - Promote the event (radio, newspapers, fliers, social media) Kapok: Ceibas annual printed newsletter. Help write articles, gather photos, contact people to write articles, format and edit End of the year letter to donors: Help write letter to past and potential donors, assist with printing, envelope stuffing and mailing Email solicitations: Keep address database current Long-Term and Ongoing Activities Grant Writing: Ceiba is always continually looking for grants to help fund our programs. Search the web for grants that fit Ceibas projects. Prepare summaries of grantmaker priorities, and suggest where they coincide with current Ceiba projects. Assist with drafting, revising and submitting grant applications and associated materials. Website Management: Post updates, photos, current research and projects, and fundraising campaigns to Ceibas website (new Wordpress-based site to launch in Dec 2012) and Facebook page. General Qualifications: The ideal candidates will have strong written and oral communication skills, and a heartfelt commitment to Ceibas conservation, research and educational goals. Ability to write and read Spanish is a plus. Must be computer-literate in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign, and experience with website design or graphic arts is a plus. Must be flexible and available via email. Must have demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently, and work with intermittent supervision. Must have demonstrated ability to manage petty cash accounts, bank deposits and other financial responsibilities. A vehicle is helpful for errands to Fed Ex, bank, accountants office and events on campus, but not necessary.
