Curriculum vitae

COMPUTER SKILL Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Origin, MatLab, FOTRAN, IDL, and Python Programing. SELECTED MEMBERSHIPS AND SERVICES American Geophysical Union (AGU). American Physical Society (APS). Life Member, Nepal Physical Society (NPS), Nepal. Physics Department Representative of Graduate Student Senate (2009), Utah State University. Joint Secretary, Nepal Physical Society (NPS), Nepal (19992001). Treasurer, University Teacher Association, Patan M. Campus, Tribhuvan University, Nepal (1993-1996). RESEARCH EXPERIENCES Postdoctoral Research Associate (May 2011-present): Sponsored by the NASA Living With a Star Heliophysics Postdoctoral Fellowship (Jack Eddy Postdoctoral Fellowship) Program and working at Remote Sensing and Space Science (RSSS) Laboratory, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL. Worked on ground- and space-based multi-instrument observations such as optical imaging systems to measure the airglow depletions of the ionospheric irregularities, GPS receiver for the ionospheric scintillations, Fabry-Perot interferometer for the neutral wind measurements, and satellite data for the ionospheric conditions. Investigated important relationships between neutral winds and the ionospheric irregularities using the data from several sites from Brazil and Peru, illustrating that the seeding of such irregularities is controlled by the neutral winds. Worked as a principal investigator on finding coupling relationships between nighttime medium-scale traveling ionospheric disturbances and low-latitude ionospheric irregularities using optical imaging data from Hawaii and Chile. Developed the theoretical model of ionospheric plasma drifts to compare with the experimental results of zonal drift velocity of the ionospheric irregularities. Research Assistant, Center for Atmospheric and Space Science, Utah State University, Logan, Utah (2006-2010): Characterized the morphology and dynamics of ionospheric irregularities using ground-based optical measurements. Determined the day-to-day variability of ionospheric plasma bubble evolutions and their zonal drift velocities from several sites distributed in different longitude sectors such as Christmas Island in the Central Pacific Ocean, Ascension Island in Atlantic Ocean, and several sites from Brazil.

Worked on studying the effect of magnetic field perturbations (data from ACE satellite and magnetometers) on the plasma drift velocity derived from Jicamarca radar and satellites observations (e.g., DMSP and C/NOFS). Faculty Member, Department of Physics, Patan Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal (1995-2005): Worked on atmospheric ozone measurements over Kathmandu, Nepal using ground-based measurements from Brewer Spectrophotometer and satellite observations. The research grant was awarded by the Dean Office, Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Mentored to undergraduate students for their projects on investigating the variability of atmospheric ozone measurements over Kathmandu. TEACHING EXPEIENCES Teaching Assistant, Department of Physics, Utah State University, Logan, Utah (2005-2011): Served as an instructor for undergraduate students and tutored introductory Physics courses, set up Physics Laboratory, conducted exams.
