The Invisibility Watch

Concept
Radigan Conagher 1/1/1901

As instructed by Blutarch Mann, CEO of Builders League United, the construction of various weapons and tools for the mercenary team of the above mentioned company took place. The Invisibility Watch is designed for infiltration, intelligence retrieval, assassination of key targets and other undercover operations.

The Concept:
There are more than one ways to become fully transparent. The simplest, most obvious and yet most unpractical way to do so is by using computer screens and cameras; one generates an image of the area behind him with said cameras on the screen. The simplicity of this method drags along many flaws: the subject would have to be attached to a power source; invisibility would be fully relative, as the equipment could be easily spotted from a different angle; the equipment would render the subject far less flexible. The last point is used to emphasize the fact that the ability to become fully transparent is absolutely essential for high-level infiltration on a very occupied, yet small battlefield. This led to a demand of more practical cloaking devices. The answer, again lies within the newly discovered metal: Autralium. This particular element is very peculiar in nature. It posseses a very inact ability to morph into other objects. Manipulation of this material was easily achieved to a certain extent using radio waves. This metal found many uses in modern technology, such as transport, teleportation and likewise. Now, it may possibly prove itself yet again. A very practical technique of cloaking that hung in the air of our community for a while now is creating material which can deflect light. In other words, the material would guide the light waves away from it's surface, consequentially making it seem like the material iteself never came into contact with light and therefore rendering it invisible. While at first there was belief that only crystals could posses such amazing properties, it has been discovered recently that cloaking heavily depends on the construction of the material itself. The material would remain in it's standard form until an impulse is sent through it, when it becomes fully transparent. The agent which would send this impulse towards the material may be Australium itself. The material could be designed to resemble a formal attire or a battlesuit. Likewise, Australium can become the primary tool, and not just the agent for cloaking. The metal could be manipulated into spreading over the subject on a molecular level into small crystals that would avert light. Due to the amazing properties of this element, a small quantitiy of Australium would be enough for the cloaking process. As such, the device could be intergrated within an object resembling a common item. Either of these techniques would allow for spatial cloaking. In theory, it would not only render the subject fully transparent, but it would make any sound from within the cloak escape as long as it is active. However, there are certain flaws to said devices. Firstly, it is difficult to find an energy source which would power the radio wave generator for longer periods of time without recharging. It is estimated that the cloaking period with a basic design would last for approximately nine seconds before having to recharge. here are variations of the device that use electrons from nearby elements to charge the Australium constantly. However, electrons cannot charge the system as efficiently when the subject is physically active, therefore resulting in six second cloak time and a longer recharge rate. Another plus to this technique, however, is the users ability to remain partially cloaked even after the period has run out. When the Australium crystals stop receiving sufficient amounts of energy, they will attempt to absorb that energy from elsewhere. Normally, this would be difficult to achieve, as radio waves are not extremely common in the atmosphere; but, the crystals can isolate electrons from their vicinity,

allowing the user to remain partially cloaked for infinite periods of time. However, the crystals cannot absorb all electrons from around them, resulting in some electrons deflecting. This produces light, as electron that bounce off of metals transform into photons, therefore leaving the subject only partially cloaked until the device receives enough energy to sustain full transparity. Secondly, there must be a recognition system built within the device in order for non-hostile subjects to see and recognize the subject. The crystals can emit small fractions of colored light at a certain wavelength invisible to the naked eye, but easily spotted through differnet devices. However, coming into direct, physical contact with the subject will cause the crystals to malfunction for a short time, emiting said light but at a wavelength in the visible spectrum. This would make the process of infiltrating more difficult. Likewise, incoming projectiles would not simply pass through the subject. The impact would shatter the crystals and expose the wound for a short time before the material regenerates. In this time, usually some blood will escape the subject, therefore making them visible. In order to avoid mishaps such as the one mentioned above, we've come across a completely different system. This new systems has a far superior energy source, making it slightly bigger but still small enough to be disguised as everyday objects. With this energy source, the waves are projected at a higher rate, meaning that the crystals regenerate almost immediately. Naturally, this leads to higher consumption of power, thus making this device last six seconds, even with radio waves. Due to this, we've restrained from making a variant that uses electrons. The system, however, cannot be jumpstarted by this energy alone. It requires a far stronger energy input than we can possibly build into a small device. Therefore, the energy used to engage the device is kinetic energy from the projectiles on the battlefield itself. The kinetic energy spreads in the form of a shockwave throughout the subject. Once it reaches the actual device, the energy is transformed into radio waves and thus starting the system. Due to the massive input the cloaking is almost instantaneous, and approximately 91% of damage the subject has taken from the projectile is negated. Another enhancement is the fact that the crystals do not emit any sort of light whatsoever, even when they get into immediate physical vicinity of another living being. The reasons for this is unknown, although we speculate the kinetic energy itself keeps the electrons at bay. However, the most obvious flaw of this system is that it is, in fact, too obvious. An enemy cannot simply disappear into thin air. This would cause the enemy to form a search and destroy party and would easily flush out the subject as they only have a short amount of time before the energy is wasted. Therefore, the device is programmed to make two layers of Australium. While the deeper layer is the light deflecting crystals, the upper layer consists of larger crystals that are more loosely attached. When a projectile hits the subject, the kinetic energy causes these larger crystals to detach from the deeper layer. The thinner crystals do as described above, while the upper layer quickly morphs into an exact copy of the subject. The copy would completely imitate the subject's weight, height, build, skin tone, the attire they were wearing and even the weapon they were carrying. This allows for the subject to deceive the enemy and evade them easily. As the energy runs out, however, the crystals which were sent to overdrive in terms of regeneration suddenly lose all energy which makes a very loud, ripping noise. So far, we could not terminate the sound. All devices mentioned above are best disguised as watches, as they fit best for situations the infiltrator will find themselves in.
