    Calcined kaolin is an anhydrous aluminium silicate produced by heating a fine natural clay to around 1000C. Benefits in coatings include high opacity and whiteness in high PVC coatings.     Kaolin or china clay is a naturally occurring, hydrated aluminium silicate mineral formed by the hydrothermal degradation of granite. Benefits in coatings include effective TiO2 spacing, good opacity and matting efficiency in high PVC coatings, favourable rheology and thixotropic effects, improved sandability and enamel holdout properties.
