Beginnings"
Wm. Claude Boone "New
On August 9th, 10am-3pm at rotary
1936 2014

Born Mar. 28, 1936 Claude went to

be with Jesus on Aug. 4, 2014. His
birthplace was Edmonton Alberta.
During his time at the University of Alberta, he received his military training
since he was a student of engineering.
After marrying Norma Holmes
they moved to Merritt, B.C. joining his
father and together they established
the company of CW Boone & Son.
Many years later when his father retired other partners came into the business and the name was changed to
Copper Valley Mechanical Contractors. After over 33 years in the trades
and in business, Claude transitioned to
the local school district and was responsible for mechanical upkeep of all
the schools in District #58.
Two children were born to him:
Quentin and Naomi. His life was
wrapped up in serving God through
Crossroads Community Church and
raising the children. Family was his
top priority after his commitments to
God through the local church. He was
a great planner and worked on organizing and seeing to conclusion every
building improvement, including the
building of two churches, until a short
time ago when his health would not
permit him to any longer. He was a
heritage builder.
He was a board member of CCC for
over 40 years, taught Sunday school,
hosted and taught home groups for the
strengthening of people.
Claude enjoyed camping, especially fishing, water skiing, and having
family gatherings especially outdoors.
He was an avid reader.
His community involvements were:
board member of the Credit Union, Executive of the Figure Skating Club and
many others involving the general education of his children and many of
their friends and associates.
When he was privileged to have
grandchildren, his devotion to them
was the same. He loved them and was
so proud of their progress and achievements. He helped them in achieving
their goals by a positive yes you can
do it word of encouragement and
prayed always for the whole family.
Left to mourn his loss are: wife
Norma and her sisters May and Bea
and brother Earl, sister Clara Norgaard, nieces and nephews, children
Quentin (Debra), Naomi (Bob), grandchildren: Charis (Dave), Carter (Sam),
Aaron (Melissa), Brittaney (Kris).
Great grandchildren are: Issac, Dallas,
and Zephaniah. The child that is to be
born to Aaron and Melissa in October
will be the fourth great grandchild.
Psalm 139:16 All the days ordained for
me were written in your book before one
of them came to be.
The funeral will be held at Crossroads Community Church, Friday August 8th at 2:00pm.

Park, there will be a fundraiser for the

businesses and people affected by the fire
on June 30th.
The goal is to give a helping hand up,
after a huge loss. Its already been a
month, but the people and businesses affected are still dealing with the devastation! Some had insurance others did not,
but insurance will only cover so much
and the rest is out of pocket. 100% of the
funds raised will be used for gift certificates to businesses in town that these
people shop at. Everyone can help and be
involved.
One of the initiatives is to buy a new
bed for renee Henry, who lost her home
and her business. An account has been
set up at City Furniture, and all donations are greatly appreciated. Stop by
City Furniture and ask for Harj. renee
doesn't have a place to call home yet but
when she does, organizers are hoping to
have a new bed for her a gift from the
citizens of Merritt! They are also working
on the best way to help all others involved in the fire.
Community Mystery boxes: They are
asking everyone interested to donate a
gift, value of gift and name, new or like
new. There will be ten mystery boxes:
ADULT (male or female), TEEN (Male or
Female), CHILD (Male or Female) BABY
(Male or Female), Cat, Dog if there are
the donations! On the front will be combined value and category of mystery box.
Tickets will be sold and 100% proceeds
will go to cause. Please make sure the
value of the gift is attached. The fun part
about these mystery boxes is that, even if
you donate you can still win and not be
aware of what is inside!! Please drop off

First World War Centenary project The Merritt Library & NV Museum invite you
to join them in organizing a multi-year observance of the centenary of the First World
War. They are looking for artists, craftspeople and writers, younger residents to propose projects such as a study group to generate biographies of the Valleys war dead;
concerts by valley musicians and singers, music hall and church hall; exhibitions by
painters that re-imagine the famous battlefield paintings of the First World War, or a
