Ministry of Children & Family Development contracts, with its 8 programs: supported child development, family support, children with special needs, family preservation, speech pathology, supportive visitation, the teen centre, and youth justice. MYFRS will be restructuring and will continue to provide community service in order to meet local needs. Please keep an eye out for their update of services available to the community. The values and local connections established by the board and staff will be utilized to assist in recognizing current community needs. Board expertise includes mental health, child protection, city council experience, social/income assistance, public health services, First Nation health, social worker certification and prior work with the MCFD, 12 years experience with our board and extensive network with local agencies. MYFRS purpose has been and will continue to be an inclusive client-driven service provider. MYFRS will continue to work in co-operation with other service providers. Staff and leadership of all involved agencies would like to thank the community, and particularly the families who rely on these services, for their understanding during this time of transition. Interior Community Services will be located at 2187 A Coutlee Avenue, and will begin on April 2nd, 2013. MYFRS will work closely with ICS and both partnering agencies to facilitate a smooth transition of programming.

The Pacific salmon has been designated the official provincial fish emblem to recognize their high ecological, cultural and economic significance to British Columbians. The designation of Pacific salmon is limited to seven salmonid species of the genus Oncorhynchus native to BC waters - all of which are included under a single overarching symbol. Included in this group are sockeye, chinook, coho, pink and chum salmon, as well as steelhead and cutthroat trout. Using the broader definition of Pacific salmon recognizes not one but seven of these important fish. The Provincial Symbols and Honours Act lists the following as representative symbols for the province: 1956 Pacific dogwood adopted as BC's official floral emblem; 1968 Jade adopted as the official mineral emblem; 1974 Five-colour official provincial tartan adopted; 1987 Steller's jay adopted as official bird; 1988 - Western red cedar adopted as official tree; 2006 Spirit bear adopted as official mammal; and 2013 Pacific salmon adopted as B.C.'s official fish emblem.
