University of Texas Dallas MSSCM
Supply Chain Management (SCM) is concerned with the efficient integration of suppliers,
factories, warehouses and stores so that products are distributed to customers in the right
quantity, at the right time and at low cost. SCM integrates supply-and-demand management
within and across companies. Because of this integration, the need for SCM expertise has
grown dramatically in recent years.
Our MS SCM degree program teaches design and management of industrial
supply chains, including how to improve operations and how to resolve key
issues. SCM graduates use their analytical decision-making skills and
advanced knowledge to address supply chain concerns that arise as operations
become increasingly more sophisticated.
Supply chain management is the management of business activities from
product development, sourcing, production and logistics to managing the
resources and related capabilities the organization needs in the attainment of
its strategic objectives. The MS SCM program provides students with
advanced knowledge on how to identify, resolve and manage complex
operational problems.
Degree Plan
The MS SCM degree is designed for students with or without previous educational background in this area. At
least 36 credit hours of management course work beyond prerequisite courses is required, including 9 hours of
basic business core courses, 9 hours of required core courses, 15 hours of electives and 3 hours of either supply
chain technology based course or any graduate course (as a free elective) offered by the Jindal School of
Management. Students can also obtain a dual MS SCM and MBA degree by successfully completing at least 63
hours, considering all prerequisites and the requirements of both degree plans are met.
Prerequisites
Calculus is required as graduate program prerequisites. Students who have not already taken an equivalent course
will need to complete the Quantitative Foundation of Business course with a grade B to meet the calculus
requirement. For specific course prerequisite information, visit: jindal.utdallas.edu/jsom-resources/advising/.
