Benefits
Eliminates coverage gaps to increase network
performance
Zero footprint enables flexible deployment and low
start-up costs
Broad range of applications to increase your network
coverage:
Coverage hole-filling
Capacity hot-spots
In-building deployment
Rural deployment
Advanced features reduce CAPEX and OPEX
Supports CDMA2000 1X, CDMA2000 1x EV-DO Rev. A,
Rev.B, VoIP and IP/Ethernet backhaul
The Alcatel-Lucent 9222 Base Station Micro provides wireless carriers with revenue opportunities by
offering a broad range of applications, maximizing coverage and creating sufficient capacity to cover
the increasing volume of lucrative data traffic.
It can be easily installed on a utility pole on the side of the highway to fill coverage gaps, or in a mall
environment to boost capacity. When used with distributed antennas, the product is great for meeting
in-building coverage needs. For challenging rural deployments, the Alcatel-Lucent 9222 Base Station
Micro is a cost-effective answer that does not require expansive infrastructure build-out.
The product is architected to support:
Multi-sector capabilities with Remote Radio Heads (RRHs)
Multiple Rev. A carriers in addition to voice
Enhanced in-building coverage with either Digital Antenna System, or ClearFill Star the worlds
first fully digital RF over Ethernet in-building solution
The Alcatel-Lucent 9222 Base Station Micro offers flexible deployment options. Pole and wall mounts
make zero-footprint deployments possible, easing the search for new cell sites. This can provide savings
in both capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operational expenditures (OPEX).
The product provides AC/DC options, and operates in both indoor and harsh outdoor environments.
The 9222 Base Station Micro is built on Alcatel-Lucent industry-leading hardware and software technologies.
Wireless carriers deploying the 9222 Micro can benefit from proven features, such as Multi-Carrier Radios
(MCRs), next-generation controllers, flexible channel cards, timing elements and power distribution. And
because the product is built with the same assets as our field-proven 9228 Base Station Macro (formerly
Modular Cell 4.0B) product, you can expect the same outstanding performance and reliability.
The common assets reduce spares pools and ease maintenance the 9222 Base Station Micro uses the
same operational and management tools as our other base stations.
In addition to supporting leading technologies such as CDMA2000 1x EV-DO Rev. A, Rev.B, VoIP
and frame relay/IP/Ethernet backhaul, the Alcatel-Lucent 9222 Base Station Micro also offers a set
of advanced features.
Broadband RF Assets
Broadband RF assets combine with superior digital technology
to enable simplified deployment options no matter where
your spectrum is located.
The new high efficiency amplifier 60WCPAM reduces power
consumption up to 60 percent, allowing the cell to support
three full RF power carriers* versus two.
Integrated Features
Integrated features such as antenna testing and external
battery backup can effectively lower your OPEX.
Easy Expansion
The Alcatel-Lucent 9222 Base Station Micro provides flexible
backhaul options as well as software-upgradeable capacity
and carrier-adds. These features lower the initial deployment
cost while making future expansion easy to implement.
Distributed Option
You can add an RRH to the existing 9222 Base Station Micro
for flexible deployment and sector growth beyond one.
